Fans heading to the Bukit Jalil Stadium to catch the Malaysia-Liverpool match this Friday are advised to take the LRT there, says Rapid Rail. Due to the huge level of interest, as well as increased traffic from outside the Klang Valley, the LRT and Monorel operator is urging the public to use public transportation in order to get to the venue in a safe and efficient manner.
“We will ensure constant surveillance in terms of monitoring foot traffic in and around the Bukit Jalil LRT Station, to ensure everyone can go in and out of the station on time to continue their journeys from here on end,” says Ahmad Nizam Mohd Amin, CEO of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd.
“The match is estimated to end before 11pm, and the last train from Bukit Jalil will be leaving at midnight, giving users ample time to plan their journeys from then. If necessary, we will extend the service times for the Ampang LRT line to ensure everyone gets to use the service on this particular day,” he elaborates.
For those who insist on driving, Ahmad Nizam recommends that they use the Park ‘n Ride facilities at the Gombak, Ampang, Bandar Tasik Selatan and Sungai Besi LRT stations before making their way to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium by the LRT. Otherwise, football fans can also use the KTM Komuter service, ETS or KTMB and continue towards the Ampang LRT line through the Bandar Tasik Selatan Station.
Rapid Rail also reminds commuters to use either the MyRapid or Touch ‘n’ Go cards to avoid queues and get to their destinations in a timely manner.
