Fed Hwy-Section 7 Shah Alam flyover to open in Feb

Shah Alam residents living in Section 7 will finally be able to access the new flyover that links the area to the Federal Highway early next year. The flyover, which was completed in July last year but has remained unopened to traffic, is now set to be operational sometime in February, The Star reports.

Project developer PKNS Infra said that the company will be handing over the flyover, which was built to ease congestion in Section 7 and the surrounding i-City, to the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) by mid-February.

The company said that the flyover will be handed over after several modifications – which are part of new conditions set by the LLM – are completed, including elevating the multiclass lane barrier. The LLM is reportedly conducting tests on the flyover at the moment.

Selangor Tourism and Culture Department director Arshad Mustapa acknowledged that people were frustrated about the delay, but said that the wait was about to end. “We can understand their frustrations because it can get quite congested, especially during the school holidays,” he said.

Owned by Mentri Besar Incorporated and built by PKNS Infra, the cost of the RM45.9mil project has been borne by developers in the area. The access provided by the flyover is expected to draw even more people to the area, the report added.

We shall see if d said flyover will ease congestion at d Fed Hiway-Uitm and d Fed Hiway-Aeon Bkt Raja junctions bcos 1) people living in Sect 7 dont want to drive further up into I-City to make a U-turn and pay toll to go home 2) the majority of traffic is to Port Klang and West Klang. That is why d jam starts from d Batu Tiga toll everyday. I wonder if a proper study was made. Else it will be a waste of d Selangor peoples money since Pkns is involved.
