Kesturi, the concession holder for the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (Duke), has announced that it will implement a contra flow system for the stretch from KM 5.7 to KM 3.2 west bound (to Jalan Kuching, Jalan Duta, KL) starting from February 23.
According to Ekovest Bhd MD Datuk Seri Lim Keng Cheng, the decision to implement the contra flow is because of the high volume of traffic at the Sentul Pasar interchange, especially during the morning peak hours.
The contra flow will start from 7am to 9am everyday, except for weekends, public holidays and school holidays. The extra lane is just for Smart Tag users from Ampang, Ulu Kelang and Setiawangsa heading to the Batu toll plaza. It will go on until March 22, giving one month for the authorities to study traffic movement and to gauge effectiveness.
For motorists in the other direction (from the Duta toll), take note that the right lane will be closed from KM 3.1 to KM 5.6 east bound, so do stick to the middle and left lanes.
