Here’s a look at the new Audi R8 Spyder. We’ve seen it once before, fully camouflaged at the Nurburgring, but here Audi doesn’t seem too bothered about trying to cover up its new open-top sports car.

Seen completely naked in a shade of Vegas Yellow paint, the Audi R8 Spyder’s styling is largely identical to its Coupe sibling, save for its convertible top and a few other items. For one, the rear glass panel on the Coupe which lets you look in on the engine isn’t here — replaced by a new cover for the area, reminiscent of the previous-gen R8 Spyder.

At the rear, there’s also a new black mesh grille that spans from one tail light to the other. The car clearly features a V10 badge on the front fenders, but it is hard to tell if this particular unit is a regular V10 or a V10 plus – on the Coupe, a V10 plus most notably had an accompanying large rear wing.

For now, this Audi R8 Spyder looks like it will feature a 5.2 litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine that delivers 540 hp and 540 Nm — the V10 plus is known to offer 610 hp and 560 Nm. Several reports suggest that the rumoured V6 turbocharged engine for the R8 will make its way into the Spyder at some point, but we’ll have to wait till later for further confirmation.
