Woking has unveiled the McLaren 570S GT4, a race car based on the Sports Series model. Developed together with McLaren GT (the company’s motorsport division) and CRS GT Limited, the track-only GT4 is undergoing its final development phase and is priced at £159,900 (RM934,460). Meanwhile a 570S Sprint model will be revealed in the coming weeks, the carmaker said.
The 570S GT4 shares the same carbon-fibre MonoCell II chassis as the other Sports Series models. One of the key attributes that it possesses is the re-profiled body, which sees the use of carbon-fibre and aluminium, over the wider tracks at both the front and rear.
An aerodynamic package can be found on the GT4. Items include a larger front splitter and re-profiled flow assembly and a GT4-spec high-level rear wing that’s mounted on aluminium pylons. Elsewhere, a front centre high temperature radiator is located below the GT3-inspired bonnet with radiator exit ducts.
Moreover, the GT4 gets two-way adjustable motorsport dampers and coil-over springs, and it sits on a set of lightweight 18-inch OZ cast magnesium alloy wheels shod in Pirelli racing tyres. Inside, the car is enhanced with safety additions, include an FIA-approved roll cage and a fire extinguisher system.
As for the engine, the 570S GT4 utilises the same M838TE twin-turbo 3.8 litre V8 engine paired to the a familiar seven-speed seamless shift gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. The 570S GT4 will make its “public development debut” at the British GT championship on April 16 to 17, and it will be raced by customer team Black Bull Ecurie Ecosse.
Meanwhile, the upcoming 570S Sprint will be dedicated for private track days, and is unrestricted by racing regulations, unlike the GT4. But, owners can choose to upgrade the Sprint to GT4 specification, if they so desire.

The European GT4 Championship is rather an amateur/clubman-type of racing compared to GT3 class, but the cars competing in the series are still exotic machineries. With the addition of Mclaren 570S GT4, it’ll further enhanced the series. Pity though GT racing is not getting enough exposure in Malaysia..
