Kia Cerato Sport spotted testing on Korean highway

Korean blog Ubinine has managed to capture a car on the road and it looks to be a Cerato Sport. Although the front and back is covered in wrap, there are some elements that distinguishes it from the standard Cerato (Forte in certain markets).

At the front, there appears to be a redesigned bumper, while a splitter can be seen beneath it. Down the back, the disguised car sports a restyled bumper, dual-exhaust tips in chrome and a different set of rear tail lamps that has some resemblance to the pair on the Kia Cadenza K7 sedan.

Meanwhile, a T-GDI badge situated on the front left section of the grille provides a clue of the engine that’s powering the Cerato Sport here. It’s a turbocharged 1.6 litre engine – the same unit that can already be found in the second-generation Forte Koup and the new US-market Forte5 hatchback.

This essentially means that it pushes out a total of 201 hp and 264 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic could very well be the gearbox of the Sport variant, while a six-speed manual will be the other alternative.

The Kia Cerato Sport could share a lot in common with the rumoured Hyundai Elantra Sport. The latter will reportedly have more or less the same setup – a 1.6 litre engine with up to 200 hp and a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

So guys and gals, do you think a Kia Cerato Sport variant will be a hit in Malaysia? Share with us your thoughts on this, in the comments section below.
