Infiniti has revealed a teaser of a new concept that will break cover at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. Called the QX Sport Inspiration, the first glimpse here reveals an SUV that will adopt the company’s “Powerful Elegance” design language.
According to the carmaker, the QX Sport Inspiration is “an exploration of the brand’s vision for a next-generation, mid-size premium SUV.” Based on that description, that makes it a potential challenger to the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE.
The concept could also serve as a possible preview replacement for the current QX70. Infiniti say that the concept illustrates SUV-like proportions “highlighted with wide muscular lines shoulders reminiscent of the Q60 Concept, floating A-pillars and extra-wide wheel arches.” The teaser also depicts LED headlamps with an interesting design, positioned between an aggressive sculpted bumper and bulging bonnet.
Should the concept translate into a production car later on, it’ll be interesting to see just how much of these design cues will actually survive the transformation. When you consider that the production Q60 coupe looks almost identical to its similarly-named concept, could the QX Sport Inspiration follow suit?
More info on the Infiniti concept will be revealed once it makes its debut at the Beijing Auto Show, slated to take place towards the end of April.
