Caltex Delo 400 MGX diesel engine oil launched in Malaysia – claimed 80,000 km drain interval

Caltex Delo 400 MGX SAE launch 1

Chevron Malaysia today officially launched the new Caltex Delo 400 MGX SAE 15W-40 diesel engine oil to meet the needs of Malaysian commercial industry players in the country. With the new lubricant, customers are now able to utilise just one heavy duty engine oil that operates efficiently with both high- and low-sulphur diesel fuels.

“The oil and gas industry in Malaysia produces a mix of low and high sulphur diesel fuel which ranges between 15 and 5000 parts per million (ppm). The introduction of the Caltex Delo 400 MGX SAE 15W-40 is proof of our commitment and goal to providing customers with ground-breaking products, which not only boost performance, but reduce operating costs as well, while keeping their diesel equipment operating reliably,” said Lennard Kwek, Asia Pacific marketing manager, Chevron Lubricants.

The new engine oil features ISOSYN Technology additives in its formulation to provide excellent soot dispersancy, along with wear protection and sludge control to help protect against loss of engine life and excessive oil consumption. Being a multi-grade oil, customers will also benefit from not requiring multiple diesel engine oils to service their vehicles.

Furthermore, Caltex Delo 400 MGX adheres to the latest American Petroleum Institute (API) specification as well as many American and European Original Equipment Manufacturers’ (OEM) approvals. The company also claims that the lubricant has an 80,000 km drain interval, which should help reduce operating costs.

Priced at RM9.50 per litre, the newly-launched Caltex Delo 400 MGX SAE 15W-40 is currently available in drum packaging through the company’s official distributors here.

There has been improvement from the old 5k to 20k and claim 80k. What have not heard is oil filter improvement while these oil hv more mileage lifespan. The doubt if oil filter can last 10k, 20k as filter size is same, so dirt can onli trap so much maybe upto 5k.

    • Truck filters typically last 30,000km, at least for volvos. Thats the service interval for their trucks.

      • The MAN TGX lorry has an oil change interval of up to 500.000km:

New Volvo’s, Scania’s, Mercedes’ etc. have similar intervals.

The intervals are dependent on a few things not only the oil grade. The main thing is the sulphur content in the diesel and the runing conditions. Most european truck manufacturers recomend you half the intervals irrepective of the oil grade if the sulphur content is above 50ppm or in extreme runing conditions (i.e quarry, mining vehicles). The interval you pointing to is for general road haulage with euro5/6 diesel in europe. A scania used in europe for long haulage has an interval of 120k km. The same vehicle in msia req oil changes between 30-40k km because of our crap diesel and runing conditions.

Halo bos, this truck oil lah. Most trucks got 3 oil filters. Your car got 3 oil filters meh? The normal service interval for trucks as 50,000km. They use 30L – 40L of oil per change, that’s why the oil is “cheap” at RM9.50 per litre.

Put this oil in your hilux and you’re are the smartest man in malaysia.

Isn’t the old Audi VW oil filter already written 30,000km on the oil filter case? That was 10 years back when I saw it, not sure now if they still same or probably extend to 60,000km?haha.

this 1 is CJ4/SM, which means it can be used on every single type of gensets, diesels and petrols on and off the road and machinery of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
yea, im gonna put this oil in my pickup truck to see how it fares against our low sulphur fuel and stresses of the driving conditions here in east msia.
btw, the 15w40 api ci4+/sl is currently priced at RM12/- per litre, inclusive of gst which is pricier than the rrp of the newly launched delo mgx.

    cheers…

Lubes made for diesel engine usually have more detergent additives, as diesel has more soot, etc. But they can also be used on petrol engine, as indicated by API-SM rating, SM for petrol.

It’s also cheap, so if it works, why not?

AMSOIL 15W-40 Synthetic Diesel Oil (SAE 15W-40
API CJ-4, CI-4+, CF, SM, SN) can last for 50,000 miles. Cheap, considering service interval will be once a year.
