Volvo XC60, V40 get EEV pricing, up to RM22k less

XC60 T6 - 2

Volvo Car Malaysia has announced that the XC60 and V40 – models equipped with the Drive-E powertrain – have managed to obtain Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) status in the country. The good news here is a price reduction of up to RM22,000 thanks to the customised government incentives from the certification.

Starting with the XC60 SUV, the T6, which previously retailed at RM318,888 is now priced at RM298,888, – a reduction of RM20,000. Meanwhile, the sticker for the T5 variant is now RM266,888 instead of RM288,888, a full RM22,000 dip in price.

As a refresher, the XC60 T6 is equipped with a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder Drive-E petrol engine, with 306 hp at 5,700 rpm and 400 Nm of twist available from 2,100 rpm to 4,500 rpm. The T5’s similar mill on the other hand, produces 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,800 rpm

As for the V40 hatchback, the T5 Drive-E can be yours for just RM180,888 instead of RM192,888 (less by RM12,000. The most recent model to be equipped with the Swedish carmaker’s Drive-E powertrain was introduced back in June this year, packing a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 245 hp and 350 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 4,800 rpm

Keep in mind that all the prices here are on-the-road without insurance, and come into effect beginning from today. Furthermore, the price reduction thanks to the EEV certification sees no change to the specifications for all the models mentioned here.

  • Whoever buys these models last week will curse like hell for their cars being so environmentally friendly that enabled it to get EEV.

Currently, don’t buy any cars. All car brands will bring their plug in in the next 1 or 2 years. Don’t be like the BMW X5 owners. Bought RM588k. Then BMW introduced their X5 Plug in for RM388k.

Now, those who bought their RM588k BMW x5, despite 1 year old, cannot even sell RM300k. Buta buta RM288k wiped out from value.

Be wise. next 2 years, don’t buy any car. Even Japanese cars. All coming with their Plug Ins and it will be 30% to 50% cheaper than the existing petrol

      • Hi, Can you elaborate more why we should not buy cars in the next 2 years? I am looking for a new car but I am not in hurry. Just wondering why a lot of people told me not to buy now.
