Ahead of its first United States-market debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2017 Ford EcoSport has been leaked online. This series of images provide us an early look at what the compact SUV will look like in its “home market,” something heralded by none other than DJ Khaled via Snapchat and Ford on Twitter.
Unlike the European-market EcoSport, the US version gains a new face inspired by the model positioned above it in the Ford US line-up, the Escape (better known as the Kuga to us here). Rather than a double grille, there is instead a single trapezoidal-shaped one.
The new item is accompanied by a different set of headlamps, fog lamps, as well as a reshaped lower apron that features a silver-painted faux skid plate. These updates mimic those seen in prototype spyshots we have shown previously, right down to the design of the alloys.
At the rear, the taillights appear to be unchanged from its European brethren, and the spare tyre deletion is evident here as well. Although we don’t get to see the car’s interior, it will likely come equipped with Ford’s SYNC 3 infotainment system paired with an eight-inch touchscreen.
As for engine options, a 1.0 litre three-cylinder EcoBoost will most likely be available, along with 2.0 litre or 1.5 litre petrol units. Transmission choices should include a six-speed automatic as standard, with a choice of a manual, while Ford’s Intelligent 4WD is an option as well.
