Which variant to buy
Most buyers should start with the RM142,888 2.0 XLT Plus 4x4 AT, because it steps up from 168 hp to 207 hp while retaining the 2.0-litre diesel and automatic gearbox. Choose the RM115,888 XL manual or RM118,888 XL automatic if a lower entry price matters most. The XLT costs RM128,888 in manual form and RM133,888 as an automatic. Pay more for the RM170,888 WildTrak or RM191,888 Platinum only after checking their equipment. The RM192,888 3.0 WildTrak gets 247 hp.

Verdict
The Ranger range covers a wide spread of needs, from 168 hp manual work trucks to a 247 hp 3.0-litre diesel WildTrak. Its broad choice of transmissions and outputs is a real strength. But the RM115,888 entry price is higher than the Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi Triton and Isuzu D-Max starting prices, though it remains below the Peugeot Landtrek and Foton Tunland.
