Maserati Quattroporte facelift arrives in Malaysia – GranSport, GranLusso variants; 3.0 V6 from RM779k

The facelifted Maserati Quattroporte has arrived in Malaysia, and it lands in three forms – the Quattroporte, Quattroporte S, and the Quattroporte GTS – here in Malaysia, the Diesel is given a miss and all variants are rear-wheel-drive.

The base Quattroporte produces 20 hp more than before, now cranking 350 hp and 500 Nm from its twin-turbocharged, 3.0 litre V6. The Quattroporte S produces 410 hp and 550 Nm from the same 3.0 litre turbo V6, while the Quattroporte GTS churns out 530 hp and 710 Nm from its 3.8 litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine.

A 0-100 km/h time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h is achieved by the base Quattroporte, according to Maserati, and the S version moves things along with a century sprint time of 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 286 km/h. The big daddy Quattroporte GTS does 4.7 seconds to 100 km/h, onwards to a maximum of 310 km/h.

In all versions, drive is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, while electronically controlled Skyhook dampers manage the Quattroporte’s body movements.

The facelifted Quattroporte is distinguishable by its redesigned bumpers, with a matte black profile in front and a matte black extractor at the back. An electrically adjustable Air Shutter controls airflow into the front of the car and regulates coolant temperature, whilst also reducing drag by up to 10% with the air conveyor and flat bottom design.

The two trim levels, GranSport and GranLusso, signify the sportier and more luxurious finishings respectively. These will be available as upgrade options, while the V8-powered GTS will have either the GranSport or GranLusso trim as standard. The GranLusso profile incorporates side skirts, while the rear features a sculpted reflector and a body coloured spoiler, rounded off with 20-inch Mercurio rims and black brake calipers.

The GranLusso interior gets an optional Ermenegildo Zegna Edition interior that features a patented silk fabric on the seats, doors, headliner and sun visors, while Radica wood inserts are found on the dashboard and steering wheel. Other comfort-oriented equipment includes power foot pedals, electric rear sunblind, four-zone air conditioning, heated rear seats and extended keyless entry.

Meanwhile, the GranSport features a more aggressive front end, while the rear end is capped by piano black spoiler. Optionally, the front grille of the GranSport can be ordered in piano black as well. Blue inserts feature on the front Trident and side Saetta badges, while the 21-inch Titano rims also feature blue Tridents.

Inside the GranSport are front and rear seats of a different design, more sculpted to “improve sports driving performance,” according to Maserati, and the steering wheel can be trimmed in either carbon-fibre or full leather. High-gloss black piano trim is used for the dashboard, shift paddles behind the steering wheel are aluminium while foot pedals are stainless steel. An additional Carbon Pack is optional for the GranSport, with carbon-fibre wing mirrors, door handles and B-pillar cover.

Equipment-wise, the revised Quattroporte gets an 8.4-inch capacitive multi-touch display infotainment unit, which is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it shares centre console space with new climate controls and a new drawer. The central tunnel gains a new lid and a phone storage compartment, while the gearlever surround and rotary volume and function knobs have been redesigned.

For added occupant comfort, new air quality sensor detects external pollution levels and prevents pollutants from entering the Quattroporte’s cabin. On the safety front, advanced driver assistance systems are optionally available – the package includes adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go, lane departure warning, forward collision warning with advanced brake assist, and automated emergency braking.

Starting from RM778,800 with the base Quattroporte, while pricing for the Quattroporte S and GTS are available upon request; all models come with a three-year, 60,000 km service package and prices include local duties and taxes.

Awesomeness but just a tiny 8.4 inch screen? C’mon 12 inches is the new standard for luxo cars like these. Power foot pedals ftw coz my feet is short so I want my foot pedals to me shorter *presses a button* and viola! It’s now fit for my short stature.
