The ‘AKU’ number plate series has become the most lucrative ever for JPJ Perak, netting the state department RM3.5 million in total, Bernama reports. Big contributors were bids for ‘AKU 1’ and ‘AKU 8055’, which resembles ‘AKU BOSS’. The AKU series was offered from July 3 to 18.
The ‘AKU 1’ plate fetched the highest bid of RM207,898.90, while RM74,000 was needed to take home ‘AKU 8055’. Other ‘boss plates’ such as 1305 and 805 were also popular among bidders. Perak JPJ director Mohd Zawawi Zakaria said the department received a total of 3,315 bids.
“AKU 1305 attracted 49 bids; AKU 8055, twenty-seven; AKU 89, twenty-three; AKU 69, twenty-one; AKU 2121, twenty; AKU 4212, nineteen and AKU 805, eighteen,” he told a press conference in Ipoh. “Usually, the Perak JPJ receives between 500 and 600 bids for vehicle registration numbers but the figure was six times higher for the AKU series,” he revealed.
Aku ini, aku itu – it seems that there are plenty of folks willing to shell out good money to shout “ME!”
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Don’t understand what is so special about this car plate. To tell people this german car belongs to aku.
Another nonsense by our Government. Until now, special plates have no meaning cause so biasa now all these tenders.
The biggest joke is that, Government collects so much revenue from all these tenders but out schools and hospitals are complaining got no money. Some schools, even tables and chairs also don’t have.
Hospitals also complaining they have no money to dispence appropriate medicine.
Where is all this tender money going to?
lepas ni plat U 1-9999 plak.

Another sad day, when people blow away good money just for vanity plates. More money than brains situation.
