Lynk & Co 02 crossover pics leaked – debut next year

Images of the upcoming Lynk & Co 02 crossover have been leaked. The 02 will join Lynk & Co’s 01 SUV and 03 sedan in the Geely-owned brand’s range of cars that are designed to be modern and global. The 02 is expected to debut at the Beijing auto show next year.

Seen it before? The 02 is pretty much a scaled down design of the 01 SUV, although it’s also visibly more low slung than the 01, which has tall sides and generous ground clearance. Lynk & Co’s crossover is shaped like the Porsche Macan, don’t you think?

According to Autocar, the 02 is built on Volvo’s Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform that underpins the XC40, the Swedish brand’s entry SUV that was unveiled in September. The UK mag says that the 02 is just under 4.5 metres long, making it 100 mm shorter than the 01 and and slightly longer than the XC40, which 2,702 mm wheelbase it shares.

The report also claims that the Lynk & Co 02 will have a chassis tuned with European handling tastes in mind. It will also get a plug-in hybrid system co-developed by Volvo, claimed to be good for a pure electric range of up to 80 km. The system will include a three-cylinder petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It is said that the PHEV powertrain shared by Volvo and Lynk & Co will kick off next year with a 50 km range on the XC40 and 01, before EV mode is ramped up to 80 km max. Also in the works, according to AC, is a fully-electric version of the 02 in the next decade capable of 600 km per charge. That will coincide with the brand’s European debut from 2019.

In August, Geely completed the formation of two new joint ventures with Volvo to co-operate on automotive technologies, purchasing and the future development of the Lynk & Co brand.

Looking simply extremely well done here. Somehow I like this design… and with 80 km full electric range with Volvo’s CMA platform, this might outsell the XC40 if it comes here.

This Link & Co design is so unoriginal. Can easily pass off as a Porsche based on it shape and front look. The back has Audi look. This sub team from Geely needs to improve on it’s design team.
