VIDEO: 2019 Subaru Forester walk-around video tour

The all-new 2019 Subaru Forester made its debut at this year’s New York International Auto Show, marking the fifth generation of one of the brand’s most popular models. You’ve already seen lots of photos of the SUV, so here’s a walk-around video tour of the Forester courtesy of Subaru of America.

Underpinned by the Subaru Global Platform, the new Forester improves upon its predecessor by providing better driving dynamics as well as crash protection. The new design is an evolution from the fourth-generation (SJ) model, with better focus on practicality and ergonomics as shown in the video.

For the United States market, all Foresters come as standard with the EyeSight driver assistance system, which includes Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking and Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Other features are Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, Lane Keep Assist, Pre-Collision Throttle Management and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Higher-end variants come with High Beam Assist, Steering Responsive Headlights and DriverFocus, the last item serving to recognise when the driver is fatigued or distracted.

Under the bonnet, the Forester is powered by a new 2.5 litre naturally-aspirated flat-four engine with direct injection, a higher compression ratio and an active valve control system (AVCS) on the exhaust side. The engine is rated at 182 hp and 239 Nm of torque, and is mated with a standard Lineartronic CVT and the brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.
