2018 Honda PCX150 scooter in Malaysia – RM10,999

2018 Honda PCX150 scooter in Malaysia – RM10,999

Thoroughly updated and revised is the 2018 Honda PCX150 scooter, priced at RM10,999 without road tax, insurance and registration. First entering the Malaysian market in 2012, the PCX150 has proven popular with urban riders and is now updated with a lighter steel cradle frame.

Carrying a 149 cc SOHC liquid-cooled engine, the PCX150 claims 14.5 hp at 8,500 rpm and 13.6 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Fuelling is with Honda’s PGM-Fi and power is delivered to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox, as is the norm for scooters.

Braking is done with a single hydraulic disc on the 14-inch front wheel and a drum brake on the 14-incher at the back. Suspension is with conventional telescopic forks on the front and dual shock absorbers adjustable for pre-load in the rear.

Weighing in at 130 kg, the PCX150 has a seat height of 764 mm and a waisted middle profile that makes low speed manoeuvring easier. Lighting is now updated with LED headlight units with integrated DRL and LED tail light.

A 25-litre storage space is found under the seat and fuel is carried in a 8-litre tank. The seat comes equipped with spring-loaded hinge, keeping it upright for ease of storage.

Standard equipment is the SMART Key System which features keyless starting, anti-theft alarm and answer-back system which help owners locate their scooter. Inside the cockpit an LCD display contains all necessary information and a 12-volt adaptor for charging electronics.

Alongside the current model colour option of Pearl Metalloid White, two new colour options are provided for the 2018 Honda PCX150 scooter – Euphoria Red Metallic and Radiate Grey Metallic. Deliveries of the PCX150 to Boon Siew Honda dealers is expected to begin in August.

finally, Honda addresses the minor problem with the PCX. 149cc engine instead of 152cc engine. Most people dont realise this but that extra 2cc carries a RM30 annual roadtax instead of RM2 if you’re engine is below 150cc. Imagine that just because of that 2cc, you’re paying half the roadtax of a 1600cc CAR!!

RM30 might be nothing to buyers of RM11k PCX but it definitely made some noise to the point that honda reduced the engine capacity.

Out dated braking system. Great technology is used to move the vehicle but poor technology is used to bring the vehicle to a stop!.

look at that ‘Idling on’ and ‘Idling off’ switch on the bike right handle (in the picture gallery). that is how Eco Idle on cars should be. It should never be Auto On like on most modern cars. Respect customer’s right to make a choice. Honda done this correctly.

  • Honda is still sleeping with the PCX 150.This product fail miserable in malaysia

Yamaha Twin Nmax and NVX is far better than this honda in term of look, design, braking system, price, and maintenance cost.

They should bring in the new Forza 150 with big storage compartment for 2 helmet and adjustable wind shield to kill the Yamaha Twin.

“Suspension is with conventional telescopic forks on the front and dual shock absorbers adjustable for pre-load in the rear.”

Owned it since August 2018, rear suspension has no adjustment feature.

How do you rate and compare this to Nvx? Very keen to have one. But at that price, nvx also is another option.

I just bought a used Honda PCX 150 year 2015 for RM4200. Engine still in good condition with 46k mileage on the odometer. Plan to buy a whole new cover set it will be as good as new. Power is responsive and brakes worked well. A better option to Sym Jet 14 200 or Wmoto Xtreme.
