Polestar 2 electric sedan teased in app before launch

Remember yesterday’s news about the Android-based infotainment system onboard the upcoming Polestar 2 electric sedan? Well, it turns out that in a web app previewing the system, Volvo’s performance electric vehicle offshoot inserted a few teasers of the car, which is expected to be revealed in full pretty soon.

Despite the dark, grainy quality of the side profile image provided, it’s clear that the four-door will be fairly compact, seemingly borrowing its proportions from the Volvo 40.2 concept of 2016. That’s not surprising, given that the 2 is expected to compete directly with the Tesla Model 3.

Other cues lifted from the 40.2 include the C-shaped C-pillars, C-shaped tail lights (here joined together by a full-width light strip) and a variation of Volvo’s “Thor’s Hammer” headlight graphic, with a “tail” that stretches along the bonnet. You can also spot the funky eight-spoke alloy wheels.

Another top-down image shows a glass roof that is similar to the one on the Polestar 1 plug-in hybrid coupé, complete with an illuminated Polestar logo graphic. An interior teaser was also shown, revealing a taller centre console than in other Volvo and Polestar models.

Polestar has already revealed that the 2 will make 400 hp and have a range of up to 483 km. All that for the price of a Model 3, which retails between US$44,000 (RM182,000) to US$62,000 (RM256,400) in the United States before incentives.
