Apart from the halo model Speed Twin 1200, the India market gets the 2025 Triumph Speed T4 400, priced at 217,000 Indian rupees (RM10,987). The Speed T4 replaces the Triumph Speed 400 (priced at RM26,900 in Malaysia) and complements the current model Scrambler 400 X (RM29,900 in Malaysia).
From the press release, the Speed T4 is a graphics update over the previous Speed 400. New colour options for the T4 are Metallic White, Phantom Black and Cocktail Red Wine.
The Speed T4 carries a liquid-cooled, 4 valve, DOHC, single-cylinder ‘TR’ engine, similar to the Speed 400. With a displacement of 398.15 cc, the T4 gets 31 PS at 7,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 36 Nm at 5,000 rpm.
Power goes to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox and chain final drive. paultan.org readers might notice the power numbers are lower from the Speed 400 (39.5 hp at 8,000 rpm with 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm) but Triumph says the T4 makes 85% of its torque available from 2,500 rpm.
Braking is done with with a 300 mm diameter disc in front, clamped by a four-piston radial-mount calliper, while two-channel ABS is standard. Suspension is done with telescopic forks in front with monoshock in the rear, adjustable for spring preload.
Tyre sizing has changed, the Speed T4 now wearing 140/70-17 rubber at the back, down from the 150/60-17 fitted previously. Meanwhile, front tyre sizing stays the same at 110/70-17, with the T4 fitted with cast alloy 10-spoke wheels.
Seat height on the T4 is set at 806 mm with weight claimed to be 180 kg with 13-litres of fuel carried in the tank. Market competition for the Triumph Speed T4 400 in Malaysia includes the Modenas Dominar 400 at RM15,797, the KTM Duke 390 at RM31,800 and more directly the Honda CB350RS at RM20,500.
