The 2024 GWM Haval H6 HEV has been launched in Malaysia, with the hybrid SUV making its official debut earlier this afternoon. Only one variant of the hybrid is available here, priced at RM139,800 (on-the-road, without insurance), lower than the estimated RM145k pricing indicated previously.
The H6 hybrid will be locally-assembled (CKD), built by EP Manufacturing (EPMB) at its plant in Pegoh, Melaka. Initially, it will go on sale in its fully-imported (CBU) form, with GWM Malaysia having announced previously that it would kick things off with an initial run of 100 CBU units. Once these are sold, deliveries will switch to the CKD version.
Measuring in at 4,683 mm long, 1,886 mm wide and 1,730 mm tall, with a 2,738 mm-long wheelbase, the H6 is set to go up against the likes of the Honda CR-V, Proton X70 and Mazda CX-5 in this market.
The H6’s hybrid system consists of a GW4B15D 1.5 litre turbocharged four-pot, which offers 150 PS at 5,500 to 6,000 rpm and 230 Nm of twist from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm, and a 177 PS (130 kW) and 300 Nm TZ220X permanent-magnet synchronous motor, the latter integrated into a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
During operation, the electric motor provides the main means of propulsion, with the engine coming into play at higher speeds, the system choosing which to utilise depending on the situation. Combined, total system output is 243 PS and 530 Nm, which is good enough to get the 1,720 kg vehicle from standstill to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds. Claimed combined fuel consumption is 5.8 litres per 100 km.
Exterior styling cues include a ‘Star Matrix’ chrome pin front grille, 19-inch black alloy wheels wrapped with 225/55R19 Hankook Ventus S1 Evo3 SUV tyres, automatic matrix LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED front and rear fog lights and a power-adjustable rear tailgate with foot sensor operation.
As for exterior colours, five are available for the H6, and these are Sun Black, Energy Green, Hamilton White, Ayers Silver and a hero shade called Crayon Grey.
Inside, cabin highlights include a dual-tone black and cream colour scheme, complete with a mix of piano black trim elements and rose gold coloured accent strips on the dashboard, steering wheel and door panels.
Display screens on the H6 are made up of a 10.25-inch unit for the digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen unit for the infotainment system, with the minimalist interior having only a few mechanical switches, the most significant being a group of seven buttons at the leading edge of the centre console, arranged in a piano-key array.
Standard equipment for the H6 in its high-spec Ultra form includes dual-zone climate control, rear air-condition vents, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a Qi wireless charger and an eight-speaker audio system, with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.
The SUV also features a panoramic glass sunroof, a rotary dial gear selector, ambient lighting, ventilated and powered (six-way driver, four-way passenger, plus two-way lumbar support for driver) front seats, an electronic parking brake, a negative-ion air cleaner system, a head-up display and a ‘boss seat’ shoulder switch on the front passenger seat.
The boot offers 560 litres of space, and folding the rear seats down expands the volume to 1,485 litres. As for safety kit, the H6 is equipped with six airbags (front, side, side curtain), a 360-degree around view camera with transparent chassis feature, a parking assist system, hill descent control and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Meanwhile, driver assistance equipment consists of a raft of items available under the vehicle’s Level 2 ADAS suite. The latter offers items such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB), full-speed adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist and a Wisdom Dodge System, which actively maintains a safe distance from large vehicles.
It also comes with a 10-year or 1,000,000 km vehicle warranty and a eight-year or 1,000,000 km (whichever comes first) powertrain warranty for its HEV system, including its Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), high voltage battery and cable as well as the transmission control unit, which is a definite plus. Both warranties are only valid for the first owner and registered as a private vehicle only.
Buyers who register their H6 in 2024 also stand to receive a five-year free maintenance package (inclusive of parts and labour). At the launch, GWM Malaysia also announced an early bird offer, in which customers will receive RM3,000 off the retail price if they book an H6 by October 20. Existing GWM customers get an additional RM3,000 rebate on top of that.

Nice
Cool
Better than Japanese SUVs rivals like CX5

Handsome car, interior feature fully loaded
Hmm.. Front grille looks like a blatant copy of Peugeot..
Frankly speaking, the WHOLE car looks so very Volvo XC60-ish
More competiton and more fiercer….and more choices for consumers to buy
expensive.chery & jaecoo & MG & proton offer cheaper options.wait.. proton in same china brand group?
This is hybrid brother and also not very expensive
Anyways….
If you want hybrid, better fuel consumption and reliable, can get Haval H6 HEV
If you want high elevation car where you can see outside clearly and more practical, can get Jaecoo J7
If you want performance, comfort and also suitable for girls to ride in, can get Chery Tiggo Pro 7
If you want handling and something super sporty with boost mode with sporty look and attracting youngsters to drive, can get MG HS
If you want budget, can get Proton X70
If anything the car market can become diverse again, not back to the days of just P1 & P2 on the road. May the best brands prevail
Very true, CX-5 and CR-V is out of the equation now, price range too high and not worthy
less than RM140k, not expensive at all! Just that you are too poor to own one!
EPMB do conversion from LHD to RHD with no fuss also. Don’t know what Proton and Geely made such a big hoohah about the difficulties and complexities of such conversion
They want to justify Proton’s existence, especially their bloated R&D department and “local talent”. This way, they can continue lying to themselves and to us that they’re still a national car brand.
Proton thinks ppl are dumb, and this greedy company still wanna earn more from the dumb ppl
The conversion isn’t the issue. The costs are.
You need to have volume. For a multi range company, it makes sense to focus on the volume sellers. Why invest for example, in a D segment conversion, when the volume is low.
It is also worth noting that conversions can be simple (like leaving switches on centre console untouched), or detailed, where every ergonomic aspect is amended to match a RHD vehicle (I’m looking at you, Chery).
This H6 looks great. But interior refinement leaves a lot to be desired. For me personally, without the rose gold accent, I’m game. Can chrome delete I’m sure!
Cantik dan giler murah
Malaysian always dream of car price lowered by removing protection. but today we are witnessing really ‘cheap cars’ offering from china branded vehicles.
your wish granted!
the fugly logo ruins everything
Personal
Price wise and feature is spot on. But after test driving it, it felt a bit floaty and has a hint of driving a 4×4 truck without the weight of a 4×4 truck, if you know what I mean. Wind noise is very little but the tyre noise is very apparent, probably they have to swap to something from Michelin. Inside is HUGE and spacious. Only time will tell if this thing last or comparable to that of a Toyota.
Turbo engine + gearbox + hybrid powertrain. Wish owner a good luck.
Didn’t you seen the warranty period and mileage “comes with a 10-year or 1,000,000 km vehicle warranty and a eight-year or 1,000,000 km (whichever comes first) powertrain warranty for its HEV system, including its Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), high voltage battery and cable as well as the transmission control unit, which is a definite plus”
It is whopping 1 million KM warranty for engine, gearbox and hybrid system. Which car in Malaysia offer this package and remember it is only a RM 140k price. Still got complain then it is your problem then.
