Here’s something quite unique – Dinamikjaya Motors, the Malaysian Kia distributor and a Bermaz Auto subsidiary, has announced the Fuel-on-Us campaign, under which those who buy a new Kia Carnival from October 1 to December 31 this year will enjoy subsidised diesel by RM1.05 per litre for the next five years, regardless of the weekly-announced fuel prices.
To participate in this campaign, customers must register their Kia Carnival with any authorised Kia dealer during the campaign period, with each purchase entitled to one application submission.
Implemented last June, the fuel subsidy rationalisation programme caused the price of Euro 5 B10 and B20 diesel to shoot up from RM2.15 to RM3.35 per litre (+RM1.20 or +56%) in Peninsular Malaysia. The current diesel price is RM2.95 per litre.
Updated for the 2024 model year last February, the latest Kia Carnival comes in three variants – 11-Seater, 8-Seater High and 7-Seater High – all carrying a 202 PS/440 Nm 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine and an eight-speed auto.
If Bermaz’s subsid is subsidising rm20k to 25K for 5 years of diesel, one can imagine the huge gross profit if no rebates are given .
Perhaps ,in an effort to ship out dead stocks,Bermaz has to resort to marketing campaigns to clear stocks, after which they might stop selling this model.
No one wants to buy diesels…haaaa
I doubt this distributor can survive in coming 5 years as Chinese cars are so aggressive to flood the markets
What’s the catch? Per month how many liters allowed? Good for those covering a lot of mileage then if unlimited claims. Those covering at least 75000km a year
Clear stocks before China MPVs selling at half the price adds the final nail in their overpriced kimchis. BYD already starting at less than 110k.
Those telling about EV, Bermaz also distributes Xpeng
