Haval H6 Hybrid 10-year, 1-mil km engine warranty for gasket, oil seal, conrod, piston, camshaft, crankshaft

GWM Malaysia has announced further details of its 10-year, one-million km engine warranty for the Haval H6 HEV that was launched in Malaysia earlier this month. This engine warranty covers the gasket, oil seal, pistons, connecting rods, camshaft and crankshaft of the 1.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, according to the company.

This is in addition to the model’s 10-year, 1,000,000 km vehicle warranty and eight-year or 1,000,000 km (whichever comes first) hybrid electric powertrain warranty that covers its Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT), high voltage battery and cable as well as the transmission control unit. As with the vehicle and hybrid system warranty, the engine warranty is for the vehicle’s first owner only, and is non-transferable.

Announced at launch, the H6 HEV is offered with a five-year free maintenance package including parts and labour for buyers who register their vehicles in 2024. Being a C-segment SUV, the Haval H6 HEV is positioned in the marketplace also occupied by the Honda CR-V, Proton X70 and the like.

The internal combustion engine in the Haval H6 HEV outputs 150 PS at 5,500 to 6,000 rpm and 230 Nm of twist from 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. This being the ICE component of the hybrid powertrain, the electric side is a 177 PS/300 Nm permanent-magnet synchronous motor that is integrated into a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).

All in, combined outputs are 243 PS and 530 Nm, good for a 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds, while claimed combined fuel consumption is 5.8 litres per 100 km.

In high-spec Ultra form, this gets dual-zone climate control, rear air-condition vents, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, a Qi wireless charger and an eight-speaker audio system, with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. Its Level ADAS suite includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), full-speed adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist and a Wisdom Dodge System.

Oil seal is fine, and it’s super cheap to replace. If head gasket is metal they don’t need replacement, but piston; conrod, camshaft and crankshaft ? Those can last a lifetime. Or did they meant piston rings and conrod bearings ? Turbocharger need servicing every 100,000km, 1mil km engine warranty include this as well ? I supposed gearbox not warranted? No way auto gearbox can survive 1mil km without major overhaul, at least not the torque converter. Need to be more specific what warranty they are talking about.

    • Ya, need to be more details in what are covered. If good for the brand, for protection, a third party shall be appointed once if haval no longer exist in Malaysia, how the consumers are protected. normal spec turbo family car, there is no turbo maintenance in schedule.. usually… some may leaks or cracked…

That’s if they operate for the next 10 years and don’t suddenly bail on Malaysian market like the last time.

Promising a super long warranty can be a trap, yes, they will warranty but you need to wait 1 month for diagnosis, 3 months for parts, and another 2 weeks for testing. Can you wait? I not saying Haval will do this but this isn’t a rare case, ironically, quite common. Promissing the warranty period isn’t enough, can you promise the car with err can solve in, let’s say 3 business day?

Remind me again after 10 years.
If the company is still around.
Don’t forget they came, left and come back again now.
Who to say that won’t happen again.

If they do really uphold the warranty and you know who should use this warranty?
Our gomen cars… always complaining how high maintenance charges.
Also owned by Gomen means forever use lah… no need to sell.
