The BYD Sealion 7 will launch in Malaysia next Thursday, November 14, and the public can get up close and personal with the Tesla Model Y fighter at The Exchange 106 over the November 15-17 weekend. You can register for the public event here, where test drives will also be available from 10am-6pm. Bookings for the BYD Sealion 7 have been open since November 6 – you can book online here.
Among the key features mentioned in the public event registration portal are a max power of 390 kW (that’s 530 PS), a 4.5-second century sprint time and a 542 km NEDC range. These point towards the two-motor AWD variant, which also has 690 Nm of total torque.
In Hong Kong, the AWD variant gets a 82.56 kWh battery which can accept up to 150 kW DC and 11 kW AC charging, while Europe gets a 91.3 kWh battery that can support up to 230 kW DC charging.
We wonder which battery capacity we’ll get, as well as if we’ll also get the one-motor RWD variant seen in Hong Kong, which has 313 PS and 380 Nm of torque, does 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and has a 82.56 kWh battery that yields a 567 km NEDC range.
As the Seal battles the Model 3, so the Sealion 7 will the Model Y. The BYD SUV is 4,830 mm long, 1,925 mm wide, 1,620 mm tall and has a 2,930 mm wheelbase. The Seal sedan goes for RM164k-200k, so how much do you expect the Sealion 7 to retail at?

Good job with the speed and efficiency of launching new products…while Proton is still syok-sendiri doing countrywide tour teasing around the e.Mas7.
P1 will never learn the market trend..always 2 steps behind. I’m tired of waiting for the new X50 (similar to Coolray in the Philippines) which I highly recommended for my wife’s next car. I’m gonna hv to opt to other brand now.
Sime Darby has made big strides since it started the BYD distributorship.
It is no secret they have overtaken Tesla universally.
So once the T15 started paying Rm4/litre Ron 95 by July 2025..many might be thinking of switching to BYD’s Evs which has an impressive range of sedan n mpv vehicles.
If the charging infra gets a hefty boost,BYD no doubt will become the blockbuster performer as number One EV market leader.
