In support of Malaysia’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021-2030 and National Energy Transition Roadmap, Gentari subsidiary Gentari Green Mobility and Mastercard have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore ways to promote EV adoption in Asia Pacific through areas such as advertising, marketing, promotions and digital payments.
In Europe, Mastercard has collaborated on a universal payment-terminal solution that will establish new payment standards for EV charging, while Gentari currently has the biggest DC charging network in Malaysia with over 170 chargers, and offers a network of over 3,800 EVs through its Vehicle-as-a-Service offering across Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
“Mastercard’s expertise in innovative digital payment solutions that drive sustainable and inclusive growth aligns with Gentari’s vision of leveraging technology to improve efficiency and customer experiences,” said Gentari deputy CEO and Gentari Green Mobility CEO Shah Yang Razalli.
“Through Gentari Go, we provide seamless access to clean energy solutions – from home solar to green mobility, including cross-border EV roaming. With Mastercard’s advanced payment technology and extensive reach, we’re excited to explore how we can connect more people and communities as we strive to be the most valued green mobility solutions partner in the region,” he added.
“Electric mobility is pivotal to shaping sustainable cities and economies of the future. By leveraging new technologies and innovations, along with collective effort, we can drive seamless development of EV infrastructure. Simplifying the charging and payment experience is a crucial step in encouraging consumer adoption and accelerating the transition to electric vehicles,” said Mastercard Malaysia and Brunei country manager Beena Pothen.
“This collaboration with Gentari embodies this vision, aligning with Mastercard’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and supporting Malaysia government’s goals for greater digitalisation and ESG implementation,” she added.
