Following news that the investment, trade and industry ministry (MITI) is working on having DC EV chargers in all Selangor and Johor districts, the Negeri Sembilan state government has chimed in, stating its commitment to developing electric vehicle charging bays (EVCB) in the state, Bernama reports.
State housing, local government development and transportation committee chairman J. Arul Kumar said the Negeri Sembilan town and country planning department had taken the initiative to present the EVCB planning guidelines at the state planning committee meeting on December 19, 2023.
The guidelines would assist local authorities and development regulators in preparing development plans and evaluating applications for planning permissions, building plans or construction permits for EVCBs in the state, he added.
“The guidelines help streamline the application process for EVCB construction and expedite the development of secure and comprehensive infrastructure at strategic locations to support the development of the state’s EV industry,” Arul Kumar said.
Malaysia targets 10,000 EV chargers in the country by end-2025.
