Jetour 7-seat SUV launching in Q2 2025 after Dashing – different name in Malaysia to avoid confusion

We have a local update from Jetour. The last we heard from the Chery Group brand was in November at the Jetour Global Travel+ Conference in Fuzhou, where Jetour Auto International vice president Kevin Xu told us that the Dashing and a 7-seat SUV will be launching in Malaysia ‘after CNY’.

Chinese New Year happens at the end of this month, and the brand’s plans are on track – the Dashing is slated for launch in Q1 this year, followed by its larger sibling in Q2 2025. Earlier, we reported that the 7-seat SUV will have a different name in Malaysia to avoid confusion with another SUV, and the change has now been confirmed.

Speaking at a CNY media gathering in KL today, Xu said that the 7-seat SUV will have a fresh name for Malaysia, which will be announced later. He added that all Jetour products for our market will be CKD locally assembled (initial batch will be CBU), including the T2 off-road SUV that is scheduled for a Q3 2025 introduction in Malaysia. However, Jetour’s APAC boss declined to reveal the company’s local assembly partner as it is a listed company and protocols must be followed.

The 7-seat D-segment SUV powered by a 156 PS/230 Nm 1.5-litre turbo-four, paired with a six-speed DCT – full details here.

It’s taking a bit too long and by the time it’s on the shelf the feature maybe outdated compare to the competitors in today’s busy market. The only “wow” factor could be the price…
