Android users, finally! The 2025 Proton X70 facelift is now available with Android Auto. Coupled with Apple CarPlay that was rolled out late last year for the refreshed SUV, AACP is now complete, and the X70 facelift is the first Proton to have the phone mirroring functions – no more ugly phone holders!
Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay can be connected wirelessly (you can also connect with a wire, of course) and now Android smartphone users can ‘see their phone’ on the X70 facelift’s new and enlarged 12.3-inch touchscreen. With this, Maps, other Google apps, Spotify and more can be displayed on the car’s nice big screen. To get back to the IHU, click on the Proton logo.
After much work, the X70 facelift’s infotainment system was designed for AACP, but the features weren’t available at launch (August 2024, read our launch report) as there was certification work to complete.
With AACP integration and certification now complete, we can expect it to feature in upcoming Proton models from launch.

Wow.. big deal!
Still nil for e.mas models?
What a shame that this upgrade didn’t cover older model of the X series (X70 & X50)…thx to influx of China made car coming into our market force #PROTON a run for its money
If they upgraded to AA then buyers will ask why not latest Google Builtin? Then if they did upgrade to that then buyers will demand upgrade to Android Auto OS. Where is the end? Problem with Android is the fragmented system, Proton was wise to holdback and go with their own solution (Atlas OS) while waiting which of the Android system will actually take hold.
Android Auto and Android Automotive are totally different things.
Exactly! And they aren’t compatible with each other. So if a system no longer supported, adopters are left hanging with no alternatives. Like your shiny big HU play nothing but FM radio?
Welcome to the 21st century
The 21st century finally welcomes Android to the car. But which Android is it? AA? GB? AA OS?
AACP upgrade is too minor upgrade. This should be introduced much earlier. Major upgrade should be considered for new version of X50, X70, X90 and S70 such as the current 3 cylinder engine should be phased out and replaced it with 4 cylinder engine.
Makers are downsizing not the other way round. Proton should be looking to upgrade the 3 cyl engine to 2 cyl soon.
The dual mirroring system in the X70 is a beneficial feature; however, the Atlas software requires significant improvements based on user feedback.
Several recurring issues have been reported about the X70’s in-car head unit (IHU), including mine. More info flying in FB if you search. X70 Problems.
1. **Safety Settings**: The safety settings, accessible via a pull-down menu, often reset unexpectedly. Despite setting the car to full safety mode, the settings may revert to defaults after turning off the vehicle or even while driving. (crazy gila)
2. Audio Settings: There are also complaints regarding the audio settings. For instance, if a user selects a specific genre like POP or Rock, they may find that the setting has changed the following day without any manual adjustment. Sometimes to classic, sometimes don’t know where it is.
3. 360-Degree Camera Functionality: I have experienced issues with the 360-degree camera not functioning predictably. The 360 image wont appear on the IHU
In comparison, I feel that simpler systems, such as those from Japanese manufacturers, tend to be more reliable. It always work.
Despite numerous complaints over the past few months, a comprehensive solution has yet to be implemented. It raises questions about the effectiveness of the various features in the X70, especially when core functions like the safety system in the IHU are inconsistent.
Are the safety features important, or is the Android or Car Play important?
