Op Selamat CNY 2025 saw cops issue 104,235 saman, down 43% – speeding, emergency lane most common

PDRM issued 104,235 saman in five days of Op Selamat 23 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year holidays. Sounds like a lot of white papers, but in fact, the total number of saman issued is down by 43% compared to the previous operations.

According to JSPT Bukit Aman director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, Op Selamat 21 last year saw the cops hand out 183,033 summonses. He said that JSPT will do its research on whether the decline in saman is due to motorists following road regulations or if their safety campaigns and advocacy work have started to bear fruit.

He said that six main offences made up 49,339 of the total saman, and speeding topped the list with over 44,000 cases. The other reasons are overtaking using the emergency lane, running the red lights and driving while using the mobile phone. 3,609 JSPT officers were out and about in this Op Selamat, which started on January 28.

If you’re still on your CNY holidays, drive home safe and take a break if you’re nodding off.

Well Hari Raya is just around the corner and it is a direct straight long holidays for most so lets see.

So anyone wants to guess the how the saman is distributed between cars and motorcycle as always seems like cars gets the flack however in actual scenario says otherwise.
