“The top 10 cars most frequently involved in accidents, and leading the list is the ‘King of Malaysia’ (Myvi). This is not just a claim; it is based on statistics: 24,628 Perodua Myvi were involved in accidents, followed by the Proton Saga with 16,159 claims and the Honda City with 13,388 claims,” she said.

What is the purpose of this statistics? Myvi is the most sold car in Malaysia, obviously will involve in literally anything more than any other cars.

it says alot about Yamaha being the best selling motorcycle in Malaysia.

I wouldn’t expect the Harley enter this simple statistic, it cannot crash more than it’s sales.

    Just sharing what I saw

There was a time I saw a myvi crashed into the rear of a BMW X5, the front of the Myvi totally crumpled , windshield cracked badly, A pillar slightly bended and front 2 door also crumpled.

While the BMW X5 only sustainable scratches and cracks on the rear bumper

  • Because they’re the best selling vehicles in Malaysia. It’s not hard to predict what will get involved.

This data is not really useful. The more any item is sold, the more chance it has to ‘fail’.
Which generation of models and which variants involved in those accidents?

I am not surprised. As a regular user of the North- South Highway travelling from KL to Penang return during the weekends, I have witnessed Myvis, Honda City and Proton Saga driven at break neck speed even in wet weather conditions. I wonder if these drivers ever value their life!

The so called “journalist” wrote a 220 word article on a basic topic.

Come on Gerard Lye, you’re better than that. Add some substance for heaven’s sake. Like you could at least mention accidents per owner for each model. Of course Myvi would be in most accidents because it’s the most used car. This is just lazy journalism.

  • Myvi in my opinion if tested for mule test will fail and overturn. Its already a scandal in japan but silenced due to many daihatsu vehicle already in the market. I myself experienced a near accident but was lucky i held firmly to steering and veered it straight otherwise car would have overturned as tge other car suddenly came into my lane. Very close call.

All 3 cars mentioned can be a real manace on the road and it reveals the character of the car and its owners.
You may add Perodua Bezza to the list as well.

Take the accident number over the sales number for the same period on each car model mentioned above and you have a clearer picture which car model has the highest accident rate.

There are 3.5x more Myvi registrations than City, but only 2x more claims? So just eyeballing it City drivers get into more trouble than Myvi drivers?
