Volkswagen to show special edition Golf GTI at Malaysia Autoshow 2025 – Tiguan and Arteon SE too?

Volkswagen Malaysia has announced that it will be wheeling out ‘Special Edition models’ at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, which opens to the public this Friday (May 9) at MAEPS Serdang. “We’re debuting our Special Edition models, so don’t miss your chance to meet the newest members of the Volkswagen family!” the company said on social media.

We already know that one of the SEs is a Golf GTI as the company teased the hot hatch in a menacing black suit yesterday. That video teaser showed GTI-branded tyre valve caps and 18-inch ‘Richmond’ alloy wheels, the latter in what appears to be a dark finish.

Today’s announcement mentioned models, so there’s bound to be more than the Golf GTI at MAS 2025. The post’s main image shows the regular hot hatch with a Tiguan and Arteon, so the SUV and big sedan could very well be the other models being given the SE treatment. Will it be the same dark theme as the teased GTI? We’ll know soon enough.

Anyway, the regular Mk8 Golf GTI retails for RM254,012 on-the-road without insurance, inclusive of the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP) with a five-year, unlimited-mileage extended warranty and five-year maintenance package. Last year, VW introduced the limited-edition Golf GTI Edition 50 for RM269,012 with VAP but that one had a fair bit of extra kit.
