Geely and Changan’s Deepal are coming to the UK; now so will Chery, to join the already-there Omoda and Jaecoo. Autocar reports that the brand will open with two models, possibly the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8, and that the first UK-bound car will be unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which begins tomorrow.
The cars will be “optimised for the local market” and go on sale at dealerships across the UK, which will probably sell Omoda (3, 5, 7, 9) and Jaecoo (5, 7) models alongside. Jaecoo has registered over 8,000 units since its January launch, beating Fiat (6,136) and Jeep (6,624), and knocking on Suzuki’s (9,499) door.
According to Autocar, the Chinese passenger car export king will also bring Lepas and iCaur to Britain this year, and let’s not forget Freelander, which is almost a dead cert for the UK.
Geely will enter Blighty later this year with the EX5 (the Proton eMas 7‘s twin), and the EV SUV could get Lotus-tuned ride and handling thanks to a collaboration with Lotus Engineering.
