The Geely Galaxy E5 is set to receive an update in China, with pre-sales of the revised electric SUV due to start on July 24 this year, according to CarNewsChina. First launched in China in August 2024, the E5 has since been renamed to the Geely EX5 for global markets and is also known as the Proton eMas 7 in Malaysia.
For the 2026 model year, the E5 will be offered in two new exterior colours called Dawn Blue and Evening Forest Green. Styling-wise, the electric vehicle (EV) remains unchanged from before and maintains the same dimensions as the pre-update model.
A more significant change is the introduction of a new Aegis lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with an increased energy capacity of 68.39 kWh, as reported in May this year. This will power a front electric motor that continues to be rated at 218 PS (215 hp or 160 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, but the higher capacity brings with it more range at 610 km following the CLTC standard.
In China, the current E5 is available with two LFP battery options, the first being a 49.52-kWh unit for 440 km, while the second is a 60.22-kWh for 530 km. The newer battery has about 13.6% more capacity compared to the latter for around 15.1% more range.
The E5 is currently priced between 107,800 and 179,800 yuan (about RM64k and RM106k) in China. For now, there’s no word on how much the updated model will sell for, but we should find out in a few days.
