In a special operation last weekend, Pahang JPJ cracked down on touting activities in Genting Highlands. The operation targetted drivers accepting paying passengers for trips to and from the popular tourist resort.
This was detailed in a social media post from Pahang JPJ, saying such activities are in contravention of the Road Transport Act (APJ, Akta Pengangkutan Jalan) 1987 and the Public Land Transport Act (APAD, Akta Pengangkutan Awam Darat) 2010. The operation focused on drivers and vehicles found congregating in public areas around the resort.
As a result, five vehicles were seized by Pahang JPJ, while three cases were charged Section 23 of the Road Transport Act, and two cases under Section 25 of the Public Land Transport Act. Pahang JPJ said such operations will continue, while members of the public are encouraged to report information via email to [email protected] of use the MyJPJ application on their smartphones.
