Malaysia is hosting the 47th ASEAN Summit that will take place in KL from October 26 to 28. As it was back in May with the 46th ASEAN Summit (the ASEAN chair hosts the meet twice), a list of major roads and highways in and around the capital will be closed in stages during this period as world leaders descent on KL for what is expected to be the largest meet of its kind by the regional block.
The Public Service Department (JPA) has announced that civil servants are allowed to work from home during this period to reduce traffic congestion, which is expected to be bad with all the roadblocks.
JPA says that civil servants who live within 25 km of their workplace are allowed to WFH from October 23-28 and department heads have been given the authority to approve applications. The department says that the implementation of this policy has to follow the procedures and terms set in the current regulations.
Perhaps private sector companies with offices in KL city should follow suit? More on the city roads and highways that will be closed here.
