The transport ministry and its agencies will be participating in the government’s Rancakkan Madani event this weekend (December 5-7) at Zon G, Dataran Putrajaya, and MoT will be bringing some goodies and services to attendees. The 9am to 9pm event is of course free of charge and open to the public.

There’s a free helmet exchange programme for motorcyclists, with 5,000 units allocated for the three-day programme. All one needs to do is bring an old, broken or non-Sirim spec helmet to be exchanged for a new one. This is for Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above (bring your MyKad for verification), limited to one unit per person.

Those who want to be a legal motorcyclist can register for the MyLesen B2 programme at the event. MyLesen B2 offers free B2 motorcycle licenses, with the RM350 cost for each license covered by the government. In July, the MoT announced 10,000 extra slots worth RM3.5 million for this year.

This is for Malaysian citizens in the B40 group that have never had a lesen before. One needs to be at least 16 years old on Januari 1, 2026 and free from any PDRM, JPJ or court blacklist, aside from being healthy physically and mentally (sihat fizikal dan mental). Priority is given to Kadet JPJ members and students. The quota is 5,000 spots.

Finally, JPJ will have a booth where one can pay outstanding saman with a 50% discount. This isn’t a special event-only discount, but part of the ‘last call’ half price offer that started on November 1. The government says that there will no longer be any JPJ or PDRM saman discount after January 1. In October, transport minister Anthony Loke announced a new saman structure following ‘The Less You Delay, The Less You Pay’ principle.

Again, the Rancakkan Madani event will be held this weekend (December 5-7) at Zon G, Dataran Putrajaya, 9am to 9pm.

Why want to give free? Later bikes without insurance, roadtax, involve in an accident, who suffer? Can impose requirements like bike is of standard fitting, no fancy plate or modification then only give out free would be a better alternative?
