Yesterday morning, an e-hailing driver in a Proton Saga was seen driving the wrong way on Old Klang Road, as seen in a video that has gone viral on Facebook.
The incident appears to have occurred on the stretch between Jalan Sepadu and Jalan Kuchai Lama, with the junction to the latter being where the driver attempted to cut back onto the correct side of the road. The car could be seen passing and narrowly missing several oncoming vehicles along the way.
According to The Star, the driver, 32-year-old Wong Kok Kong, turned himself in at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) at 8:35 pm the same day, after police failed to locate him at several addresses, including his federal home.
Wong was charged at a magistrate’s court under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 today, having pleaded guilty to reckless and dangerous driving. He was sentenced to three days’ imprisonment and a RM6,000 fine, which he paid. He also received a five-year suspension on his driving licence, per Malay Mail.
Investigations found that the man had driven against traffic for about 500 metres, having taken a wrong turn on his way to Mid Valley Megamall, said Kuala Lumpur JSPT chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa. “Breathalyser and urine tests conducted on the suspect returned negative results.” he added.

Give chance lah, Perlisian driver not familiar with KL roads
Ah… You must be one of them who go wrong way on purpose
bike rider often goes against traffic oopposite direction ok je
It won’t be OK for bike riders when there is video evidence of them riding against traffic flow.
Grab Driver go against traffic – Cannot.
Grab Rider go against traffic – Biasalah.
I think to prevent or reduce similar cases in future, gment shld make sure all road marks and sign in tip top condition. Dont plant trees near junction. Standardised all the left turn traffic light and also traffic light blinking timer to whole country. Frankly speaking, many road marks in kv road vanished, especially after road re-tar. Need to improve asap.
Well said!
Road markings not clear or gone after re-tar. Missing signboards. Not working traffic lights or confusing traffic lights. Or sometimes even missing traffic lights. Weird road junctions. Trees blocking junction, etc.
Agreed, over here down under we have large signs with the words ‘WRONG WAY’ to warn drivers.
Such a harsh sentence… everyday hundreds if not thousands of riders go against traffic…ini macam wrong place wrong time.
Grab rider go against traffic…takpe.
What a judge!
Just wondering, if someone accidently entered the wrong direction, and immediately do a u-turn, would the driver get lighter sentence?
Hilang lesen memandu.. no driving for next 5 years and need to go thru driving test again after that. not sure if he will still get his commercial driving license.
More worrying is that his Grab driver does not have a properly recorded residence. Why cannot locate by his registered address ?
logic fail
He is lucky to go to prison for 3 days and fine RM6k with suspended driving license. it could be worst if he is charge for attempted murder.
I felt the sentence was a little too harsh.
Now, please go in front of Tan Boon Ming Old Klang Road, after Scott Garden and observe the amount of motorbikes going against the traffic every day.
Please take videos of those motorbikes as evidence. That white Saga driver was convicted because of the video evidence.
