KPK completes technical consultations with petroleum companies ahead of B15 biodiesel rollout on June 1

In an official statement posted today, the ministry of plantation and commodities (KPK) said it has carried out all technical engagement processes with petroleum companies to ensure that the supply chain, logistics and infrastructure at blending depots are ready ahead of the nationwide implementation of B15 biodiesel. This is an increase from the current B10 blend and will officially come into effect next month from June 1, 2026.

“The transition to B15 proves the readiness of the country’s infrastructure, engineering, and technology to support the renewable energy agenda, while simultaneously signalling Malaysia’s clear commitment to optimising the use of palm oil for the domestic energy sector without jeopardising export market supplies,” KPK wrote in its release. It added the new biodiesel blend is being launched through a mechanism coordinated by the High-Level Biofuel Committee (HLC).

This initiative is said to be beneficial in terms of reducing the country’s dependency on petroleum diesel imports, while also extending existing supply stocks, stabilising domestic crude palm oil (CPO) prices and reducing carbon emissions in the transportation sector. These benefits are in line with aspirations of the National Agricommodity Policy (DAKN) as well as the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

On the enforcement side of things, KPK is currently working closely with the ministry of finance (MoF), ministry of domestic trade and cost of living (KPDN) and the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM). Public awareness initiatives are also being coordinated with the ministry of communications to ensure accurate information reaches consumers.
