April 2026 Malaysian vehicle sales up by 13.6% – MAA

The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has released vehicle sales data for the month of April 2026, reporting that a total of 72,113 units units were delivered to buyers last month. This represents an increase of 13.6%, or 8,624 units, from the 63,489 units shifted in March.

The association said that the numbers for April translates to two consecutive months of growth, and attributed the April increase to sales from new model launches as well as a higher production volume of 70,611 units last month following temporary plant shutdowns for the Hari Raya festive period in March.

April’s sales numbers also represent a 16.7% (or 10,306 units) improvement than that achieved in the same month in 2025, when 61,807 units of passenger and commercial vehicles were shifted.

As for the year-to-date (YTD) figure, the 2026 total with the first four months completed stands at 254,318 units sold, which is 1.63% ahead of that for the corresponding period in 2025, when 250,239 units were delivered. The association said it expects sales to maintain the current momentum in May.
