Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The Jetour T1 is a five-seat C-segment SUV launched in Malaysia for 2026. It suits drivers wanting a petrol SUV with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, rather than an electrified powertrain. The range starts at RM129,800, with wet dual-clutch automatic transmission across both versions.

T1 in 2026 — what's new

The 2026 Jetour T1 is launched in Malaysia as a new model, and the current range remains the two-variant line-up introduced at launch. The 1.5T 2WD has a 1.5-litre 168 hp petrol engine and front-wheel drive. The 2.0T XWD uses a 2.0-litre 241 hp petrol engine and all-wheel drive. Both have a wet seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and five seats.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should choose the RM129,800 1.5T 2WD. Its 168 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine, front-wheel drive and wet dual-clutch automatic cost RM17,000 less than the XWD. Pay RM146,800 for the 2.0T XWD only if its 241 hp 2.0-litre engine and all-wheel drive matter to your use. Both are five-seaters with wet dual-clutch automatics; on paper, you are paying for mechanicals rather than listed equipment differences.

Verdict

The T1’s case rests on its five-star ASEAN NCAP rating, five-seat cabin and choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Its entry price is RM26,000 above the Proton eMas 7 and RM23,000 above the Proton X70, but just RM100 below the MG HS. The XWD asks a substantial RM17,000 more than the 2WD, so its 241 hp engine and all-wheel drive need to be priorities.
