Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The BYD Atto 3 is a five-seat C-segment electric SUV for buyers who want a choice of front- or rear-wheel drive, with markedly different battery capacities and range figures. The 2026 facelift range starts from RM125,800 and brings the full Evo upgrade developed for Europe to Malaysia.

Atto 3 in 2026 — what's new

For 2026, the Atto 3 arrives as the Mk1 facelift, launched with two substantially different versions rather than a simple cosmetic refresh. The Ultra uses front-wheel drive, a 60.48 kWh battery and a 420 km range figure. The Premium switches to rear-wheel drive, a 74.88 kWh battery and 510 km. The facelift also brings 220 kW DC charging capability and up to 313 PS in headline figures.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should choose the Premium at RM138,800. The RM13,000 gap buys 74.88 kWh instead of 60.48 kWh, a claimed 510 km range rather than 420 km, 308 hp instead of 201 hp, and rear-wheel drive in place of front-wheel drive. It has also been the more popular version in early bookings. Pick the RM125,800 Ultra if the lower entry price matters more than the extra 90 km of claimed range and stronger drivetrain.

Verdict

This is a much broader Atto 3 range than before, with the choice now defined by drivetrain and battery size rather than minor trim differences. More than 12,000 Atto 3s have been delivered in Malaysia, and the facelift drew 1,000 bookings in its first 10 days. The Premium costs more than the Seres 3, Atto 2, Neta X and Aion Y Plus, but its 510 km claimed range and rear-wheel drive give the extra spend a clear technical basis.
