Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The 2026 BYD Atto 3 facelift is a five-seat C-segment electric SUV for drivers who want a choice between a 420 km FWD version and a longer-range, more powerful RWD one. It starts from RM125,800, with the two versions differing substantially in battery capacity, output and driven wheels.

Atto 3 in 2026 — what's new

The Atto 3 enters 2026 as a facelift, launched in June with Ultra and Premium versions. The Premium has a 74.88 kWh battery and 510 km WLTP range, while the Ultra uses a 60.48 kWh pack for 420 km. Updates include Gemilang Blue paint and two-tone wheels for the Premium. The Atto 3 Performance adds AWD, 449 PS, 560 Nm, a 4.0-second 0-100 km/h time and 470 km WLTP range.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should choose the Premium at RM138,800 if regular long trips or stronger acceleration matter. The RM13,000 gap over the RM125,800 Ultra buys a 14.4 kWh larger battery, 90 km more range, 107 PS more power and rear-wheel drive. It is also RM9,800 dearer than the Neta X, so those gains need to be meaningful to you. Pick the Ultra if the lower entry price matters more than range and performance.

Verdict

The Atto 3 has a strong Malaysian record, with more than 12,000 deliveries and status as the country’s all-time best-selling EV. The facelift is more than a mild refresh, dividing the line-up into a sensible 420 km FWD Ultra and a markedly stronger 510 km RWD Premium. But the Premium costs more than the Neta X and Aion Y Plus, so its extra range and rear-drive hardware must justify the outlay.
