Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The Mazda CX-30 is a five-seat C-segment SUV for buyers who want a petrol crossover with a conventional automatic gearbox rather than a hybrid or EV. The Malaysian range starts from RM128,409 and uses a 1,998 cc engine with 162 hp across all four variants.

CX-30 in 2026 — what's new

The Mazda CX-30 carries on into 2026 unchanged. The latest Malaysian update was a pricing revision in 2025, when the CX-30 was reduced by RM5,000. The current range remains the locally assembled CKD line-up introduced in 2023: four 2.0-litre petrol, automatic, five-seat variants, running from 2.0G 2WD Standard to 2.0G High+ Premium.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should start with the 2.0G 2WD Standard at RM128,409. All four variants use the same 1,998 cc petrol engine, 162 hp output, automatic gearbox and five-seat layout, so on paper you are not paying for more performance. The 2.0G High 2WD costs RM134,409, the 2.0G High+ 2WD costs RM144,409 and the 2.0G High+ Premium costs RM154,409. Pay more only if the added trim equipment matters to you.

Verdict

The CX-30 sits in the same busy C-segment SUV space as the Toyota Corolla Cross, Proton X70, Kia Sportage, Chery Tiggo 7 and MG HS. It is not the cheapest option: the Proton eMas 7, Proton X70 and Jetour Dashing all start lower. Against the Kia, Chery and MG, its entry price is close, but the Mazda climbs to RM154,409 at the top end. Buy it for the Mazda package, not bargain pricing.
