Car Buyer's Guide

Overview

The U25 MINI Countryman is a five-seat C-segment SUV launched in 2024, with electric and petrol powertrain choices, all-wheel drive and automatic transmissions. It starts from RM258,888. It suits buyers deciding between the 313 hp electric S, 201 hp S All4 and 296 hp JCW rather than needing more than five seats.

Countryman in 2026 — what's new

In 2026, the electric Countryman receives a silicon carbide inverter and a 65.2 kWh net battery, raising WLTP range to up to 500 km. The S All4 rises RM2,000 to RM260,888. Two limited S editions arrive: the 48-unit Desert Night with standard ACC at RM255,000, and the 18-unit Fiery Stallion Edition from RM261,000.

Which variant to buy

Most buyers should buy the S Electric at RM258,888 if they can charge regularly. Its 313 hp and AWD beat the petrol S All4’s 201 hp, while the difference is only RM2,000. Choose the RM260,888 S All4 when petrol refuelling matters more than electric driving. The RM389,888 JCW gets 296 hp, AWD and a wet dual-clutch automatic, but the RM129,000 gap over S All4 is large.

Verdict

The Countryman makes its electric-versus-petrol decision close in price at the bottom of the regular range: just RM2,000 separates the S Electric and S All4. The locally assembled petrol S drops the 48-volt mild-hybrid system that normally adds 20 PS, leaving 201 hp. The electric S has 313 hp, so the JCW’s 296 hp and RM129,000 premium need a specific appeal beyond output.
