The effects of the earthquake that hit Japan continue to show, this time right here. UMW Toyota Motor has issued an announcement that there could be disruptions in parts supplies coming in from Japan, and it is preparing for this by making adjustments to its production from April 25 to June 3.
The adjustments will come in the form of implemented cuts in overtime and a change to a single-shift operation from April 25. On June 6, a revised production plan will be made, in line with the recovery of parts supply, it says.
Seemingly, this will inevitably translate into delays in customers getting their new rides, but UMW Toyota stresses that it has communicated and will update all its customers individually concerning their vehicle delivery status. It adds that it will closely monitor the parts supply situation in Japan and will provide any updates or information in a timely manner.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
1st!! hopefully the japan parts r radiation-free..
actually everyone is affected including proton, only perodua has the guts to declare early, cos they are number 1.
the rest just quiet quiet announce among themselves, lol.
i think the parts supply involved is electronics chips, because others like Honda also suffering. chip board circuits are used in many components… incl ECU, and instrument meters and the likes.
Sendai has many electronic factories. too bad but this is opportunities for local vendors to come in so good news to us too.
Heard that South Korea also get Radiation Contaiminated Rain, Maybe Korean car part also got Rediation as well.
Hyundai/Kia will rule!!!
bye..bye Toyota..Honda..Nissan..etc..Its Korean time…
hint of price-up, ask you guys to grab fast before regret
Just need a space to channel my anger here. My mum’s Vios just got towed for suspected fuel pump problem…. arggghhhh!!! Come on… it is late friday evening… was really looking forward to the weekend… until now.
Go and buy a Protonggg see whether you can hit my record of 35 ‘complaint’ visits to service center in less than 2 years!
You’re still considered lucky!
Haha.
I can read from your comment, reflect that you are happy to have hit the 35 complaints to Proton or Protonggg. I suggest you to send your car to the actual Proton Edar Service Centre and not wakil service with a Protongg Logo in front of their shop. Also do not send your car to EON service centre as our company had bad experience with EON. They sell not genuine part to you, and maybe this make your Proton become Protongg
I had driven Ford TX3, Nissan and Daihatsu, now proton. My Nissan is not up to my satisfaction, Daihatsu worse, When I bought my Waja in 2003, I told me self this is my second hand car so no high expactation, but turn out to be the most reliable car for 7 years++
sir,
either he is telling the truth of having proton cars or just make up stories…
to tell you, i had follow his comment till now, he was mentioning he own a waja, then a gen2, later gen2 become persona and now he is driving mitsubishi grandis…
this guy is not consistent in proving proof…
Not so good news to all Toyota, Honda, Mitshubishi owners – parts esp electronic parts will be badly affected. That translate that if your ECU breaks down – your car will be hung for a long time but remember you can source them out from ‘junk yards’ for temporary measures.
Toyota & Honda are still no.1 in Malaysia…
Not a good sign for us, especially those important parts which is imported from Japan. Once the part fail, you will need to wait for some time till there is replacement available in the market. And beware of those imitation parts from Taiwan or China, they may look the same, but the performance is terrible.
Now, Japanese brand will add radioactive flavor for their cars?
noooooooooooooooooo my 8 months bonus :((((((
Just bought mine a new Japanese car…perhaps need to be cautious for not spoiling the electronics part or else…sitting duck waiting for replacement for uncertain period of time.
book my accord last month, argggg got to wait more longerrr….
