The Peugeot 2008 has officially gone on sale in Malaysia. Regular paultan.org followers would have known everything there is to know about the new compact crossover, as we’ve had spyshots of it as early as October last year, an early price reveal on oto.my, comprehensive coverage of the preview at KLIMS13 and most recently, the car’s full price and specification complete with its brochure last month.
Today’s launch confirms the 2008 1.6 VTi’s RM119,888 price (on-the-road with insurance; RM121,888 and RM121,588 in Sabah and Sarawak respectively). Nasim, the official Peugeot distributor in Malaysia, claims to have received over 100 bookings of the urban SUV since its order books opened.
To refresh your memory, the Peugeot 2008 is available here in a sole 1.6 VTi guise, with a normally-aspirated 1.6 litre petrol engine offering 122 PS at 6,000 rpm and 160 Nm at 4,250 rpm. It’s paired to a four-speed automatic transmission, enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 11.2 seconds and a 190 km/h top speed.
Key features include 16-inch wheels, Smart Park Assist, a panoramic roof with mood lighting, a seven-inch colour touchscreen with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, auto dual-zone air-conditioning, a Smart One-Touch Foldable rear seat (expands the 360 litre-boot into a 1,194 litre-cargo room) and a six-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system.
Auto headlights and wipers, a head-up instrument panel with LCD colour display, cornering assist fog lamps, an aviation-style handbrake lever and semi-bucket Oxford leather/fabric combination seats are all thrown in too, while safety equipment includes six airbags, ESP with ASR, DSC and Isofix anchorage points.
Buyers have four colours to choose from – Digital White, Artense Grey, Dakota Brown and Virtual Blue. To those interested, the 2008 will be on display at the Peugeot Roadshow at One Utama New Wing on Ground Floor, High Street from January 8 to 12. Also, we’ve already driven the Peugeot 2008, so stay tuned for our review here soon.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
The car is nice, but then the price is very unattractive, if I am paying 120k for this baby SUV, I would expect a 1.6 turbo engine. I think 9xk is more reasonable.
and a 4-speed.i was hoping it was 6-speed
For RM120k I can get a decent 2.0 Mitsubishi ASX. Although Mitsu offers less attractive packages but the MIVEC engine is much more fun to drive than this underpowered Pug and lower maintenance in the long run.
but u’re driving a cx5 wor.
dont forget, more boot space
i see the engine also i lemah semangat. better walk than to drive this crap.
OMG…Better wait for the Honda Vezel. Much more reliable and nice.
Good pricing by Peugeot..but other competitors offer more powerful engine..
Good Pricing? Seriously? This is a baby crossover, you can get a bigger car with lower price, such as the CKD ASX.
OMG…Ya, good pricing bcos of the 1.6 vti. If 1.6 turbo, mahal loh…
Attractive price.
Stylish design.
What could possibly go wrong ?
ATTRACTIVE PRICE. That is wrong
i never get the point of crossovers, even the cx5 never caught my eye despite being a mazda fan. id rather get a 208 or spend more and get a 508.
Test drove the car few days ago.
Pros:
1. Beautiful car with beautiful moonroof
2. Though engine is only 1.6 NA, its quite zippy in town
3. Comforfable seats and cockpit design
Cons
1. Small car for a hefty price
2. Quite crampy. Though similar width as pug 208 but better in length
Since this is supposed to do battle at a competitive segment, that panoramic roof should go to bring the price down by RM5-10k.
Err, the engine is such a letdown at 120k. I would have preferred the 1.6THP. With 6 speed auto.
Knowing this SUV comes 1.6 VTi and 4-speed engine, I am eagerly waiting your review on its performance.
I went to Bukit Indah showroom last week. No test drive unit, only display unit. The test drive unit will be available later this month (also waiting to test one).
The interior looks fresh, stylish with soft material dashboard, 7-inch display (even only for entertainment), sporty seats, and the amazing lighted panoramic moonroof, making it feels more spacious. According to the SA, the display might be updated with navi for free in future (similar to the current 508).
My two-cent. Peace!
The powerpack may not be strong, but given the car target market, young urbanites with a priority for style, I see no problems with a 4-speeder. But the touchscreen. My time with the 2008 was in KLIMS, didn’t got to try or fully inspect the rear seat to see if its cramp as it was filled with unnecessary display items. the front feels high and nice(what most people want nowadays) and controls are nicely place. Is just that Touchscreen interface wasn’t what I call friendly. It takes some patience for it to go where and when you are driving, I do not think that is ever ideal.
But overall, given the price and the spec, it looks like it could be a hit in Peugeot’s lineup. Naza never fails to deliver an ideal price/spec combo.
The battle has begun….2014 looks set to be a war of crossover in Malaysia, who will emerge winner in the first round or the worthy championship title belongs to other soon to be launched similar offering by other makers? The drama will unfold soon
The specifications on this car is very attractive indeed except for the normal 1.6 engine and 4 speed automatic transmission. The price also a bit steep for this car but overall nice and good looking car.
No RV, no class, no standard. Sushi is your choice.
RV? What a boring person you are. =_=”
RV? ? You don’t buy car for RV. You want RV, buy a property. Period.
Shame Loo, is 2014 year already, still keep talking RV.
Even Driven laughing at a joker, ShameLoo, u still don’t get it??
What a loser, get a new life please..
My boss Sam will accept trade in of your hailat kimchi at 30% of the buying price for your 1 year car. You are such a k5 loser. You need to work hard to reserve driving a sushi.
Kid, please grow up..
Japanese car is your ultimate dream cars? Then u should be the one to work hard!!!
Reserve or deserve? dude, its 2014 already. stop talking about your RV. This only proves that your hilux has nothing but RV. No one buys a car just for RV. like youdontbuyyourcarforRV said, want RV then buy a house. please understand that everyone who buys a car is using it for a long term. majority takes 7 or 9 years loan and by the time the loan is paid up, these people knows RV is not in the question. Stop embarrassing yourself bro. Even Paultan.org made a mockery of you. unless your skin is so thick you felt proud instead of embarrassed.
A typical K5 hailat owner that gives soul comment after traded in his car.
Dear Mr. Sam Loo,
My suggestion to you is in your many next postings to come, just enter your name, and no need to input any comment then can save you a lot of time in typing because anyone who is frequent to this site has already equate SAM LOO to RV, and bla bla bla
Sam. You mean RV stands for Remote Vehicle right? :)
RV? you wanna know which car has rv? c-RV! but sorry, i think you need to update your values.
When to Peugeot showroom today. Have to say, I am impressed with all the technology and accessories. But, the price is a let down.
For those who thinks the 2008 need a more powerful engine and 6 speeds can wait for the new 1.2 e-thp. It should be here anyhow since the engine will be made available in march, as far as europe is concerned.
The price may increase slightly I am sure. I will wait for it in the 208 for sure.
ASX.. 2.0.. RM114k.. So now you feel ASX is much2 cheaper, eh? No?
Nasim has learned from UMW, moving backward with 4 speed torque converter!
120k Better buy hyundai tucson
The price shouldn’t far if not close to livina xgear and szk SX4, say max rm100k
A B-segment derived SUV cost ~RM120K?!:-O
That’s C-segment territory. What’s stopping people from getting the bigger ASX with this price? Expected RM9xK is more like it with a N/A 1.6 engine & 4 speeder.
I don’t know bout this 2008 but when I checked out their 408 2.0 & saw the service interval cost touched RM2K to RM4K for certain intervals, I left in a hurry.
.
Conti cars are all like that.. But some of them said the ride is worth it.. Well it’s a free country.. You can buy what you want.. No poblem. Thx for the info…
Agreed with Crecha…. B-Segment Crossover at C-Segment Price??? Dont forget Subaru XV. Pricing not far off.
not bad, top speed can reach 190 km/h. like a car and hope the stability also like a car. waiting for paultan review later….
pug 2008 – is it got something like AWD..?
