The Peugeot 2008 will be making its Malaysian debut at KLIMS 2013 tomorrow, but thanks to an eager sales advisor we have first indications of pricing for the new B-segment SUV. The classifieds ad on oto.my lists the Peugeot 2008 as going for RM118k.
We already know that the 2008 will come with Smart Park Assist, a panoramic roof with mood lighting, a colour touch-screen with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, a Smart One-Touch Foldable rear seat, a six-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, six airbags and ESP stability control thanks to information released by Malaysian Peugeot distributor Nasim.
This ad reveals the engine under the hood – which turns out to be the 1.6 litre VTI engine producing 122 PS and 160 Nm of torque, essentially a similiar motor to that in the Peugeot 208. Another bit of new info is the size of the touch screen – seven inches wide.
Four colours are listed as being available – Digital White, Virtual Blue, Dakota Brown and Artense Grey. The 2008 will join a market that has been largely ignored by a lot of car manufacturers – the B-segment SUV. For the longest time the only SUV available in that segment was the Toyota Rush, and its short-lived cousin the Perodua Nautica. The 2008 is set to be joined by the Ford EcoSport in Malaysia.

what a joker price.
This car greater then ford ecosport? Dunno which to put my money
Still on a 4 speed gearbox ? Oh, big NO NO !
In Europe, the difference in pricing between the 208 with the 2008 is ONLY €800 euros / RM 3,500. But in Malaysia the difference in more than RM 35,000? WTF!
what to do bro. do the gov even seens it as an extra 3500 over the 208? remember pricing is controlled by gov bro. its not like u just add duty n voila u have the price….
The top spec 2008 is around 18,000 UK Pounds and the equivalent 5-door 208 thats available in Malaysia is 1,500 pounds cheaper. Around RM8k diffenrence. Keep in mind that the 5-door here isn’t the top spec.
Ayooo… add less than 20k for bigger cabin n 2.0 CX5, Sportage, ASX . But the 1.6 maybe suffice for it’s lighweight 1045kg. Reliability still the concern.
Let’s wait and see what the arch rival for the 2008, the EcoSport will be priced at. If that EcoSport comes in at a sub 100k price and this at 118k, then the 2008 will not jalan very fast. Fact.
For this price it better be the top spec model. Every single thing must be ticked in the options list
Rm118k Nasim should at least offer the turbo engine. If they want to make the car take fly, better keep it at low 9xk, that will grab a lot of new buyers.
there are only 2 petrol engines available for the 208/2008. 1.2 VTi (85hp) and 1.6 VTi (120hp).

This VTi engine is apparently soon to be obsolete… that’s maybe why they r dumping it on our market
Does it come with Grip Control for Malaysian Market?
I since the system on You tube, it looks interesting for a 2wd car equipped with such system.
By the way, RM118K is still expensive for a B-segment SUV. I agree that top up little bit more to get Mazda Cx5 better than this 2008 SUV.
I’m expect the price between RM95-110k
I guess crossovers will no longer be sub 100k … looking at the prices in the UK…. even the new 2014 Suzuki SX4cross 1.6 price is markedly increased. Maybe future Jazz_based crossover CKD.
soon, the jap and korean cars…
higest spec B seg = 100k
highest spec C seg = 150k
Highest spec D seg = 200k
The price is a let down if it turns out to be final.
Seems like Naza has lose it’s aggressiveness in pricing it’s model, starts from the 208 GTi.
Considering that this model only comes with 4 speed auto transmission, which is less than acceptable by today’s standard, the asking price should be less than that of RM118k.
Would probably wait for next year’s 1.2THP model with 6 speed auto transmission.
Any promotion discount on this month?
