This is the Audi R8 GT3 codenamed R16 which was unveiled at the Essen Motor Show this week. The R8 conforms to GT3 regulations, which means its V10’s 500+ horsepower is sent to the rear wheels instead of the road-going car’s all-wheel drive. Power is transmitted via a new 6-speed sequential gearbox not from the road car, but most of the suspension is from the production line. The front end and rear end has been appropriately modified (note the huge GT wing) for greater race-worthy downforce. The price tag? 262,000 Euros including VAT.
As for the Le Mans race, Audi has something new in store. The R10 TDI will be replaced in June 2009 with a new race car called the Audi R15 TDI which will use a smaller, lighter and more efficient TDI engine. Audi promises the step from the R10 to the R15 will be significantly larger than from the R8 to the R10.

I actually love the R8 and I think to own the R8 is more special than to own a Porsche of the same price.
Have you seen the actual car? It is SOO wide and when you put the Porsche right beside R8, the Porsche suddenly look like a tiny bug/beetle.
and the TDI is powered by Shell V Power GTL diesel!

Charles27. What reviews have you been reading? I cannot remember even one negative review on the R8. The R8 has been pretty much universally praised. It’s not super fast, but that’s where the Lambo LP560 comes in.

well, of course you can find them in the racing circuit….. but what i meant was those of people owning the car for use in road….. We can already see R8 on normal roads at singapore…. e.g, i dont think so any malaysian would buy R8 or can afford to buy one due to that G’s stupid tax system and AP thingy !!!! here already hav a R8 bought for road use…. and i even doubt whether those R8 in sepang belongs to them coz it might be brought from somewhere else for display and test drive around the circuit only !!!!

malaysians are not like thais. malaysians no balls. they are afraid if they revolt get indicted by ISA, lose business, economy collapse etc. so any overthrow of the G is unlikely

God… u just reminded me of thai ppl… oh god, they made the whole government to collapse man !!!! what a bravery !!!!
