VIDEO: Audi R8 LMS GT3 car on the track

Audi R8 GT3

Audi released this 2 minute long video of the Audi R8 LMS tearing up the race track. The R8 LMS is a GT3 spec car which sends over 500 horsepower to the rear wheels instead of the regular R8’s four wheels as GT3 doesn’t allow all-wheel drive. It’ll cost 262,000 Euros including VAT. Look after the jump to watch the video.

lets hope Audi R8 LMS GT3 is the right contender that can seriously challenges Ferrari F430s in the 2009 Le Mans & FIA GT Championship.

non of Porsche 997 captured podium finish during 2008 seasons though.

wonder why Nissan can’t field the new GTR in the FIA GT race?

I’m not sure whether this R8 LMS GT3 is also meant for FIA GT2 class, since its original inception is to cater for the FIA GT3 entrants.

Understood this one is fitted with the V10 engine, so expect a roadgoing version to come out soon.

Yup, seems like Ferrari F430 has ended Porsche domination in the GT2 class, with a very dominant style. Maybe Porsche should increase their engine capacity to match the power outputs of the Ferraris ? (3.8L, 460+ bhp vs 4.3L, 510+ bhp)

Nissan GTR is not allowed to enter becoz it’s got 4WD system, that’s why the Audi R8 & Lambo Gallardo had to be converted to RWD.

Frankly speaking, this rule is a very bullshit one becoz you can’t see these cars running in it’s original trim. FIA just too afraid if they might gain an unfair advantage. Remember Skyline GTR R32 has sent Merc & BMW packing in the Macau Guia Race & Nurburg 24H back in the 90’s…

The last time 4WD racer compete at international level, was the Audi A4 Supertouring back in the early 2000s…

First of all..i luv Audi.If i were asked to choose between Audi, Merc n BMW, i would definitely pick the Audi. No question asked. In 2007, Audi launches the R8. First thing comes to mind, its a f#*king good looking supercar. I luv every angle of it. The curves, the LED, the interior, everything. All except 1, the engine. I mean, come on Audi.. u put the same 4.2 litre V8 engine like the one u use in the RS4 and u put it in a supercar!
The only difference between the RS4 and the R8 (engine performance wise) is how fast they can go in century sprint. 0-100 in the RS4 is 4.8s while in the R8 is 4.6s. Is this what u get when a sport sedan vs a supercar? The R8 winning only by 0.2s?
Luckily Audi has come up with a new formulas for the R8. First, the R8 GT3 like the one 1 u see here. U know its a SUPERCAR when it produces 500hp. The car will be on sale in mid 2009.
Second, (im dying for this car), the R8 V12 TDI. It got a V12 twin turbo diesel engine which produce over 500hp. The only problem is, we would have to wait at least 2-5 years for this car to go on sale. Well,at least i could save some money to buy this car.LOL

its worth selling the house for the R8. yes, its slower and more expensive the gt-r. but then, the only thing more sub-zero than the audi R8 is probably a bugatti
