Well, photos of the vehicle sans disguise may have come about yesterday, but so much for that. The new Ford Ranger has finally broken cover, and is on display at a roadshow in Sunway Pyramid, which runs from today until Sunday. Having been told it was there, yours truly was planning to make a visit to the roadshow tonight or tomorrow morning to grab some pix of the pickup.
Thankfully, there’s no need to wait any further. Diligent reader Rizal M was at the Pyramid this morning, saw the roadshow display and noticed the truck, or trucks in this case. The 3.2 litre variant seen in the earlier post is on show, as is what should be the 2.2 litre XLT manual, presumably so because it’s dressed up as a mobile billboard for the Malaysia Ranger Challenge, which has a manual 2.2 as the winning prize.
More importantly, Rizal snapped a pix of the Ranger product leaflet, in which the estimated pricing for the variants are listed. The 2.2L XLT automatic has an estimated OTR price of RM98,000, while the manual version is expected to be RM92,000. Significantly, there’s also mention of the 3.2L Wildtrak, priced at an estimated RM115,000, so that one looks to be on the cards.
There’s also a shot of what you can expect to find in the T6’s cabin – rain and speed sensing wipers, auto headlamps, cruise control, dual airbags, Bluetooth with Voice Control feature, an integrated control panel, no less than 23 storage spaces dotting the interior and a large lockable glovebox. Supposedly, the compartment is big enough to house a 16-inch laptop, so the brochure goes. The Wildtrak gets dual-zone climate control, as far as can be figured.
Many thanks for taking and sharing the photos, Rizal.
first!!!!
first!!!!!!
waaaa!! 115k? waaaa!! gulp!! aiyyaaa!!
nissan navara got challenger already..
The XLT looks better than Wildtrak.
waaaaa…manyak mahal!!
MAHAL-NYA!!! There goes my dream! Haiz!!!
Now we have a father trucker.
Come kick the mother trucker and see whose win!
Depending on which SOB is driving.
Wow!!! Ranger 2.2 XLT looks sooooooooo affordable huhuhuh ;-p
ford…y u so expensive?
ford used to be cheap…..
but not anymore……..
maybe its becoz that got more function on it, that why its damn expensive… but the cruise control were very unique.. even navara don’t have its own cruise control…
115k for the top-of-the-line Ranger sounds good. with the same money you can only buy a honda cr-z hybrid with a teeny 1.5 engine.
thailand price convert to local price
Double Cab 2.2L Hi-rider XLT 6-speed manual
= THB 779,000 equivalent to RM77183 + 10%sales tax = RM 85000
Double Cab 2.2L Hi-rider XLT 6-speed automatic
= THB 799,000 equivalent to RM 79063 + 10%sales tax =RM 86000
so the greedy SD Auto KoneKsyen add in extra 7k for manual and 12k auto.
Pity those east msian….. oni can dream their blue hilux
You think transporting a truck from Thailand to Malaysia is free ah?
Even so, i dont think that transporting this truck from thai to malaysia need 5k per car. do we need to use container per car loaded to the ship, transported to port klang while malaysia and thai connected by highway? its ridiculous!. too pity for Sabahan. the XLT 2.2 Manual version will surely reached rm105k when it come to our shore. not to mention the so called wildtrak. KESIAN.
im sure SDAC will add more like 10k on top of peninsula price to send this Ranger to k.k. due to shiping and handling costs. klang to kk got no connected land+paperwork 2x(unloading and loading). so thats 20k freight charge from Rayong, thailand to kk, sabah. good job sir!
But bcoz of the malaysian shipping company protection act or cabotage, there is not direct shipping from rayong thai to sepanggar kk. the truck should first unloaded to port klang before sending them to Sabah. thanks to the umno/bn gov, we got higher price here due to shipping & handling cost. just like the newly launched GWM Wangle 5, in the peninsular, the truck priced something like rm70k, but when it come to our shore, the price increased to rm77k. means theres rm7k increase. Fully adapt n implement the EFTA please. and abolish the cabotage policy. give them fair fight.

I wonder when people will realize they just cannot directly convert prices of cars from other countries to ringgit and whine about it.
HI Rider is 2 door version, somewhat like the navara calibre.
i issed the front metal chrome bummber
finally, a good looking alternative to the old triton.
the wildtrak looks nice…put on black matte body, bigger rims, off road suspension and a snorkel, u get urself an angry looking truck..
Totally agree! But they don’t have it in black! Only orange and white
wildtrak only available in A/T rite?
3200 lt roadtax how much ah?? aiyo……
how much is 3.2L road tax? and 2.2 roadtax? both private and company?
Anthony, the leaflet says fuel efficiency 9.6l/100km – is it a typo or for petrol??? Diesel can do 3x better than this…
its huge….man…
wow…5 star Euro Ncap, i think so far the best if compare to other pick-up truck in our market.
another pickup breaking over RM100k barrier.. good job… msia blh..
its packed with features that hilux owners can dream off!
Expensive?
Go buy pickup truck Protongkat Arena Jumbuck from Australia and ship back here still cheaper lah
But 1-star safety rating only lah later you accident become sandwich bwa ha ha ha!

Compare to Ranger 5-star rest assured you came out 1 piece safely no problem so worth it lah that price over RM100K…

TQ Darren for the list. Sound very interesting for the wildtrak.. I hope Ford Kota Kinabalu can arrange the road show for this All New Ford Ranger ASAP Cant wait to look at its marvelous car . If Peninsular cost it around RM115K so at Sabah it ma be around RM125K dame expansive. But i wish it bellow RM118K heheheh.
why so much difference in price
ranger 2×2 =rm92 000 (manual)
triton lite turbo 4 x2 = rm66 000 (launch on April)
why….
the best pick up truck in the market..but 2.2 still the better option for average income guy..huhu
the best pick up truck in the market by ford if the 3.2 got manual should be better but price wise for an average guy like myself only can afford 2.2 but with current car debt still go have to restrain from drooling…
The Ford Ranger 2012 is perfect pick up but the biggest problem now of those who are having ford vehicles is that the ford plant in Laguna was recently closed and therefore the maintenance will be expensive since the the spare parts will be coming from Thailand.
I went to book for a unit of Wildtrak and was told that I will have to wait for about a year as this truck is fully imported from Australia. If the Wildtrak is so popular, why can’t the local franchise holder bring in more units?
