The Aussie brawn didn’t stop at the Holden stand at AIMS 2012; outside the exhibition hall was Ford Australia, who displayed two very special vehicles from its Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) arm – the Pursuit Ute and limited-edition GT RSPEC sedan.
Limited to 350 units and based on the Falcon GT, the AUS$76,990 (RM242k) muscle car gets heavily racetrack-tuned suspension and new wider rear wheels with 275/35 R19 Dunlop Sports Maxx tyres. There’s also launch control – a first for FPV. The livery pays tribute to the Boss Mustang of old with the red C-stripe across its body.
449 hp and 570 Nm of torque come from a ‘Miami’ BOSS 335 5.0 litre supercharged V8, with manual and ZF slushboxes available, both with six speeds.
The AUS$57,990 (RM182k) Pursuit Ute however, is the most exclusive ute FPV has ever offered, with a limited run of only 75 units. Features include a GT colour-coded front bumper and GT RSPEC alloy wheels. Its 5.0 litre supercharged V8 outputs a little less than the one in the GT RSPEC, but is far from a slouch at 422 hp and 545 Nm. Transmission choices are the same as in the GT RSPEC.
Other cars present at Ford’s outdoor stand include the Territory SUV, Ranger and Falcon EcoBoost – live photos of which you’ll find in the gallery.
