Spotted in Shah Alam wearing trade plates is a Volvo S60 bearing the DRIVe badge – thanks go to eagle-eyed reader DaYN for the picture.

DRIVe is the Swedish carmaker’s green and more fuel-efficient range of vehicles, and in the case of the S60, the powerplant’s a 1.6 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit that produces 113 hp and 270 Nm of torque.

Additions such as low-rolling resistance tyres, an ECU tuned for economy, regenerative braking and a start-stop system work together to yield a quoted 4.3 litre per 100 km fuel consumption figure on the combined cycle, CO2 emissions of 114 grams per km and a theoretical range of about 1,600 km on one tank of diesel.

So is this around the corner for Malaysia? Time will reveal more, but in the meantime, here’s an S60 with a completely opposite attitude.
