Spotted in Shah Alam wearing trade plates is a Volvo S60 bearing the DRIVe badge – thanks go to eagle-eyed reader DaYN for the picture.
DRIVe is the Swedish carmaker’s green and more fuel-efficient range of vehicles, and in the case of the S60, the powerplant’s a 1.6 litre four-cylinder turbodiesel unit that produces 113 hp and 270 Nm of torque.
Additions such as low-rolling resistance tyres, an ECU tuned for economy, regenerative braking and a start-stop system work together to yield a quoted 4.3 litre per 100 km fuel consumption figure on the combined cycle, CO2 emissions of 114 grams per km and a theoretical range of about 1,600 km on one tank of diesel.
So is this around the corner for Malaysia? Time will reveal more, but in the meantime, here’s an S60 with a completely opposite attitude.
Looking to sell your car? Sell it with Carro.
Finally, more options for me this year. mazda6 or this car?
“honey, looks like we’re have to postponed our eurotrip this year”
we have to postpone*
grammar nazi
woww !!!! 1600kms in a single tank…yumm yummm
provided you maintain your car velocity at 50kmph
Yeah, out of that 1600kms/tank, around 100 kms was behind the tow truck
Ignorant bastard… lol
regenerative braking? so meaning this guy is a hybrid no?
Over to you, Malaysian govt, to give us better diesel..
Govt will say negara akan bankrupt! Hundreds of thousands of Proton workers will get laid off, and blame it all on LGE.
Also blame MS Excel that can’t do simple calculation…
1600km per full tank? That’s better than most hybrids!
You’re right, european diesel are much more efficient than Japanese hybrid, just that in Msia there a lot of typical car buyer thats too afraid to try new things…
highly doubt volvo is gonna bring this in, seems like some other company is testing the car.
Don’t be too happy 1st… u can often see drive e models around shah alam with trade plate, those fully kitted ( with reverse sensors and original rims ) are for thai market… it’s made in malaysia but not for malaysian… diesel quality should be improved! so we can enjoy these models…
Price it below VW Passat!!!!!!
It’s for singapore not malaysia, they dont have enough long highways and roads to fully test the car for singapore. Singapore has new emission regulations kicked in this year.
For me either d4 or d5
Fyi, Singapore Volvo cars are directly imported from Sweden, not from Malaysia plant
Malaysia is guranteed unable to assemble a driv-e model, this is surely an import from sweden but not meant for malaysian market. They are selling it already in singapore
i dont think jpj approve that
Malaysia plant is assembling the drive e models…
this kind of “SPIED” shot is worth to spy on it…because people want to see….makes people excited…
113hp? for a Volvo…does not sound right
Don’t look at hp but torque. This car won’t have really good high end speed but very good from standstill / city mode to middle speed
270nm of torque from this eco-volvo at starting from below 2,000rpm…compared to a 2.5 camry abt 230nm torque (high above 4,000rpm) or a vw gti’s 280nm. Go figure, very usable power for daily use.
gti 280nm comes from 1700rpm stay on till 5200rpm (mk6)
Typically this turbo-diesel will reach its 270nm Max Torque between 1750rpm and 3500rpm. The petrol 2.5 Camry will have max torque of 230nm at higher rpm. This means that if you’re driving with engine rpm below 3500, the Volvo will actually give you more power and you’d feel it.
The Volvo will also give you a free SIM built into the car for you to call the tow truck operator
Saw this model yesterday in maroon as well, comes with a e logo
I wonder does it come with kers as well, but here we look see only. Maybe not available here, sad sad,
If Volvo Malaysia stops trying to price their cars similar to BMW 3-series and Audi A4 levels, perhaps they might be able to sell a bit more cars
Volvo is a premium car maker. They are always more expensive than VW, Ford, Toyota, … In other markets too. Maybe they are unable to sell for less?
Lowest RV car. Trade in price for this car after 1 year is about 20k and you will definitely be shown the Hilux.
Better get camry 2.5V…
this is luxury car,,, camry is only a family car
so camry is no class
No, don’t compare a very underspecced car to a Volvo.
Who cares about RV? I haven’t given up my car which I bought 3 years ago.
RV is secondary for this car. It will have a frequent kwai tai problem given that Malaysian diesel is from the dark ages
Guys, are you sure this is the diesel version..? In Thailand this car is under the same badge but has a 1.6 L turbo engine with 180 hp.
Even I am thinking alike to you. Cause the diesel DRIVe is manual only. Surely Volvo Malaysia x want to bring that in.
Yeap bro you got a point there. If Volvo were to bring in diesel versions, I think we’re only going to get the D4 at best at it comes with a auto box.
I think better bring the D3 2.0 diesel… Fuel economy not good as the 1.6 DRIVE model, but good enough anyway… And more power too 161hp and 400nm…
I just call VolvoCarsMalaysia, the receptionist told that there is no such news about this S60 dRive turbodiesel will be launch in here…..very disappointed…sad…:-(
