Goodwood has certainly been a hive of activity – another ‘debutant’ making its first public appearance on track at the festival has been Ford’s FF1 Formula Ford-based road car.
The road-legal racer sits on a Formula Ford-derived chassis and is powered by a tuned version of the 1.0 litre EcoBoost three-cylinder mill, with 202 hp to propel the 495 kg single-seater about. That’s good enough to get the FF1 to the 100 km/h mark in less than four seconds.
The car has a lap time of seven minutes 22 seconds on the Nurburgring, which happens to be the 11th fastest-ever circuit time. Speculation continues as to whether the Blue Oval will put the road-legal track vehicle into series production – it’d be an absolute hoot, for sure.
